Ford‘s F-150 pickup will officially get the long awaited 3.5L Ecoboost V6, as well as two new V8s and a 3.7L V6. The 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 are similar to the units used in the Ford Mustang but have been revised to better suit the needs of a pickup truck, with re-enforced internals and E85 capability. The 6.2L V8 from the Ford SVT Raptor pickup will also be standard on 2011 Super Duty trucks.
Ford’s Ecoboost will be available across the range and match the 6.2L’s tow rating of 11, 300 pounds while getting 20% better mileage than the outgoing 5.4L engine. All four engines will be backed by a new 6-speed automatic with a manual override function as well.
