This morning, we shared new images of the updated 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK compact luxury crossover due to unveil at the upcoming New York International Auto Show.

To the casual viewer, the photos were of the typical glossy PR variety. However, upon closer inspection you are able to spot an easter egg within the images– what can only be a refreshed 2013 model year Mercedes-Benz G-wagon.

Distinguishing features include a set of LED daytime running lights that run along the bottom of the headlights as well as a pair of redesigned exterior mirrors. Although it’s certainly possible that the 2013 G-Class will receive additional updates, we are unable to determine what the other styling tweaks may be from the image available.

We expect more details and information to surface as we draw closer to the upcoming 2012 New York Auto Show.

RENNtech over the decades has become synonymous with serious, hardcore Mercedes-Benz performance. And in 2008, to show off their customization prowess and vision towards performance, RENNtech built a one-of-a-kind GLK350 Hybrid Pikes Peak Rally Car. The concept vehicle had won the 2008 SEMA Show Mercedes-Benz tuner build-off competition, and RENNtech is freshening up for 2011 and its ultimate retirement.

RENNtech made the announcement that the GLK350 will retire to a place of honor in Mercedes-Benz’s Classic Vehicle Museum in Irvine, CA. This isn’t the first RENNtech vehicle that has found its way in there, with their first being the E60 RS project car built for Jerry Seinfeld.

To bring it up to 2011 acceptable standards, RENNtech had the entire exterior of the vehicle rewrapped with 3M’s Commercial Graphics Division black carbon fiber that also features a subtle red pin striping. This was the perfect match to RENNtech’s aggressively revised exterior modifications.

Keep your eyes out at the GLK350 will be toured for its last year prior to taking its rightful spot in Mercedes-Benz’s Classic Vehicle Museum.

Official press release and video available after the break.

Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled a special edition G55 AMG SUV at this year’s Qatar Motor Show. Dubbed the Mercedes G-Class Arabia 100 Limited Edition, the G55 has a (you guessed it) limited edition run of just 100 units and will be available in either Cashmere White or Nightblack.

To go along with its rugged exterior, Mercedes has outfitted the limited edition G-Class with a set of 19-inch AMG wheels in a special matte-finish. In the interior, a two-tone treatment was given with a contrasting black and porcelain leather theme while carbon fiber and champagne white Designo piano lacquer wood trim acts as decor. The G also gets a special rear entertainment system.

Under the hood, there are no changes, but who really needs them with 507-hp from a supercharged V8.

The Middle East is currently Mercedes-Benz’s fourth largest market for G-Class sales, so it’s no surprise that they would get their own special edition to enjoy.
