Cadillac has gone through some major changes in recent years, breathing new life into their brand and trying to target a new generation of automotive enthusiasts.
The fans over at GMInsideNews decided to look into the future of Cadillac in their Revitalization in Action Dream lineup series. While most of this is speculation at the moment, it’s worth mentioning that it is informed speculation. A lot of analysis went into the renderings and what they believe is Cadillac’s future dream lineup.
To sum it all up, the enthusiasts envision a Cadillac lineup consisting of a breadth of models to compete with the best in the luxury segment. That includes competitors to most of the German luxury lineup.
The BTS/BTC is essentially a renamed ATS. While it’s a fitting competitor to the 3-Series, Cadillac ultimately needs a vehicle to slot in underneath it to compete with cars like the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3. With that in mind, the Cadillac dream lineup would rename the ATS to BTS, and come out with a smaller, more compact model with the ATS name.
Next, a compact crossover called the BRX would compete with the BMW X3, the Audi Q5, and the Mercedes GLK. It would be the crossover companion to the BTS to fit in the fastest growing category in the luxury crossover market. While the American automaker hasn’t confirmed that a vehicle of this size is in the works, we would agree that Cadillac needs a strong competitor there to remain relevant.
The CTS encompassed everything Cadillac stood for over the last decade and next-generation is destined to launch in 2014. It will be positioned competitively with the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, and Mercedes E-Class.
With the introduction of a smaller BRX model, Cadillac would then be able to take their SRX and compete directly with the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz ML-Class. GMInsideNews believes that the next-generation SRX should abandon the Theta platform that it’s built on today and switch over to the Alpha platform to give it a nimble, rear-wheel driving experience.
For a full-size crossover offering, the idea of a Cadillac XRX is an interesting one. Based on the Zeta platform, Cadillac could introduce a new three-row luxury crossover that wouldn’t compete directly with its infamous Escalade model. It would be a nice competitor to the existing Audi Q7 and the Mercedes GL-Class.
In their vision of a dream lineup for Cadillac, GMInsideNews also believes that the XTS model should become a full-sized rear-wheel drive sedan to compete with the likes of the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The Escalade would remain to be Cadillac’s full-sized SUV and would simply get a refresh considering its already well-established popularity. Lastly, the XLR model would be a halo car as a range-topping, expensive luxury roadster, which means it would compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and the BMW 6-Series models.
