Nissan is taking an interesting approach to show off the tuning potential of its 370Z by tasking its Facebook fans with deciding what modifications make their way onto its project car.

Fans on Nissan’s Facebook page are choosing the parts that the Japanese automaker is installing onto the car to make it the “ultimate track car,” the world’s first crowdsourced project car.

The first phase of the build saw the 370Z getting a huge power boost thanks to a twin turbo kit that puts more than 500 hp on tap. A Ti-C catback exhaust system with 2.75-inch diameter piping also went into the car, allowing the engine to better use its new forced induction system.

The boost in engine performance will be backed by a set of coilovers from KW with its Variant 3 model featuring a 2-stage valve system. KW has become a very popular brand in recent years amongst enthusiasts, and the 70-percent voting proved just that for the 370Z project. Lastly, Nissan upgraded the brakes on its 370Z.

This is just the beginning of the project car and we’ll keep an eye out as Nissan will undoubtedly focus on the project’s aerodynamics and interior next as they strive to build a great track car thanks to the feedback of its fans.

It’s not often that a game changing sports car comes out onto the market. The Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S is exactly that, and it’s clear that tuners and aftermarket product manufacturers are just as excited for the platform as automotive enthusiasts are.

There’s little to no doubt in our minds that the Scion FR-S will be a huge hit – you can read our review here – and the aftermarket will only make the vehicle better. Tuners in Japan have already been hard at work since they got their hands on the GT 86 earlier than America. But the Scion Racing / GReddy drift Scion FR-S driven by Ken Gushi (pictured above) looks ready to rock into action at the Long Beach season opener.

We’ve also already seen D1 GP drifter Max Orido with his IS-F powered GT 86. While both those cars are great to check out, they’re mainly unobtainable by the average FR-S enthusiast. What’s more exciting is to see what some of the other tuners have in the works for styling and performance accessories. When Scion‘s FR-S debuted out in Los Angeles, a modified black variant by GReddy was also present but wasn’t exactly center stage. This isn’t a huge surprise as GReddy has been a long time partner with Scion, but this might also be revealing a few more projects that are underway through the collaboration.

Scion decided to bring the modified version out to a Cars and Coffee event in Irvine, California, where visitors were treated to hearing the FR-S’s new exhaust note courtesy of GReddy. Given GReddy’s track record with other vehicles and products, a turbo kit is definitely in development right now along with a bolt-on intake and exhaust.

But what’s even more interesting is the possibility that GReddy will be building a drifter for Ken Gushi for the 2012 Formula DRIFT season since RS*R has decided to take a backseat to everything going on. Clearly the FR-S will be a popular tuning platform, let’s see if GReddy can put itself back on the map with it.

It’s not often you see a car at the SEMA Show that’s more than just a pipe dream. And we’ll admit that building a car to resemble this Greddy-tuned Scion tC might not be cheap, but it is possible. While it’s obvious from the official press release that Greddy is planning to offer the turbocharger kit found under the hood of the new 2011 tC, we’ve also just received word that Scion will offer the Five Axis aero kit at select dealers as a part of the Scion Optimize program. No official pricing has been announced, but we have been told that it will come in at under $1,200.

After that, you just need to shell out for a lowering kit, the Scion Optimize rear spoiler, the TRD big brake upgrade and some Volk G2 wheels. Oh, and don’t forget the decals.

GReddy has always been a huge supporter of Scion and its vehicles, producing a turbo kit for the original tC when it first hit the market. In fact, their tC was one of the cleanest ones ever built, so it’s no surprise that they’re already all over the new generation 2011 Scion tC, R&D’ing new parts including an exhaust system and turbo kit.

While snooping around GReddy’s Plixi account, we spotted several photos of a 2011 Scion tC already under the knife. From what we can gather, they just picked up the car about a week ago and have already mocked up a new exhaust system for their SEMA project. It looks now they are now working hard on getting a turbo kit ready to go to show off to the rest of the industry come SEMA.

GReddy is well known for producing very streetable turbo kits that do not hamper the reliability and daily-driving ability of cars. We fully expect another high quality product from their factory once they get everything sorted out and ready to go. It should be a nice improvement to the factory 2.5L-liter inline-four, and knowing GReddy they’ll aim for around 250-hp nice and safely.

And with HKS’s Scion SEMA car confirmed, there’s little doubt that we’ll see a few other 2011 tCs all tricked out.

Last month we posted up the video of SP Engineering’s record setting pass in a pair of Nissan GT-R’s equipped with GReddy’s TD06SH 20G turbo upgrade kit. A video has now surfaced showing the details of GReddy’s turbo upgrade kit for the Nissan GT-R and it’s worth a watch, even if you don’t own one yourself.

Over the last decade and change GReddy has established itself as one of the premier bolt-on turbo kit manufacturers in the world. They made their claim to fame with many street legal kits for various applications ranging from Hondas to Nissans to Toyotas and Mitsubishis. Their single turbo upgrades for the Supra were infamous, and many Eclipse owners raved over the performance and reliability of their various 4G63 upgrades.

So it’s no surprise that GReddy’s TD06SH 20G upgrade for the Nissan GT-R has already had such huge success. Teaming up with SP Engineering, they have done numerous record setting 9-second passes on not just one GT-R, but two. Both these GT-Rs are entirely streetable, so it’s hard not to be envious of the owners. So for those having GT-Rs and craving even more power (we can’t blame you), take GReddy’s newest upgrade into consideration.

The Nissan R35 GT-R is making a whole lot of news these days with aftermarket tuners really starting to make Porsche’s Nürburgring nemesis into something even more amazing. After conquering every twisted-track in the world, in true American fashion, different U.S.-tuners are turning the Japanese sports car into a straight line bullet. Late in March, AMS shattered the 9-second barrier with their GT-R, and much like everything else in drag racing, the record continues to fall as other tuners and builders come out of the woodwork with their projects.

Ever since GReddy/TRUST of Japan gave the world a scare by filing bankruptcy in late 2008, GReddy USA has been working diligently in ensuring the aftermarket that they’re here to stay and will be better than ever. They’ve stepped up all their research, design and development, ushering new parts to the market that prove to be better than the competition. Their latest result is a collaboration project with SP Engineering, one of many famed Southern California tuners. For close to 15 years, SP Engineering has been producing and building some of the world’s fastest and nicest cars from tuned Supras to Lamborghinis. Now they’re settling out for yet another record.

On April 13th, 2010, a pair of Nissan GT-Rs built and tuned by SP Engineering headed out to Arizona’s Speedworld Drag Strip. Battling blistering track temperatures of 120-degrees Fahrenheit, the pair of GT-Rs not only mustered 9-second passes, but set records. SP Engineering’s own GT-R stopped the clock at 9.62 @ 149.80 mph while one of their customer’s, Hing, wasn’t far behind with a 9.84 @ 148.40 mph. Both vehicles sport GReddy’s TD06SH 20G turbo kit upgrade that comes complete with a Type-2 intercooler kit and blow-off valve kit. The black GT-R setting the new quarter mile record has a built motor with CP Pistons and Carillo Rods and a collection of TiTek exhaust parts. Hing’s GT-R, in a contrasting white, sports GReddy’s new exhaust parts that are titanium and coming soon to the market. Both vehicles set their personal bests on C16 fuel.

Eugene over at SP Engineering has informed us that they plan on upgrading the GT-R monster motors with GReddy’s upcoming 4.0L “STROKE HER” kit along with some headwork. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on these two GT-Rs along with the others that are certainly going to be stepping up to the plate. We might not be too far off from an 8-second pass from a completely streetable Nissan GT-R! Check out the video after the break.

As promised, import car tuner GReddy debuted its X-Gen Street Genesis Coupe at the 2009 SEMA Show. Apart from the wild and wacky paint job (a SEMA necessity), the modified 2.0T model is the kind of car we’d like to have in the driveway.

The philosophy behind the build was to improve performance in all areas. GReddy calls this its “Total Tune-Up” theme. First up is what’s under the hood, with a larger turbocharger and an intercooler setup that produces 350-hp and 320 ft-lbs of torque for a 0-60 mph time of under 6.0 seconds. The kit is fully available from Greddy and includes all the other components, like the downpipe, blow off valve, etc. GReddy also offers the sweet looking quad-exhaust system.

That exhaust fits nicely with the JP USA rear diffuser. The rest of the car’s aerodynamics are also directly from JP USA.

In terms of improving performance in other areas, the GReddy Genesis Coupe gets a set of 19-inch Volk Racing G2 wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 tires. And inside those lightweight rollers is a GReddy big bake upgrade.

As though there was any doubt, the 2009 SEMA Show is gearing up to be an exhibition of modified Hyundais. The tuning experts at GReddy have announced that they will be bringing a Genesis Coupe 2.0T, with all sorts of aftermarket goodies and an expected power output of 350-hp and 320 ft-lbs of torque.

Called the GReddy X-Gen Street Genesis Coupe, the Hyundai will get a larger turbocharger, MX racing downpipe, a front-mount intercooler and SE Spectrum Elite cat-back exhaust. A big brake upgrade and lowered suspension will also be a part of the package, as will a list of body modifications that include a carbon fiber front lip, hood and trunck. Volk Wheels and Toyo have also joined in to supply wheels and tires.
