At least four different companies will be bringing their vision of the ultimate custom Ford Mustang to this year’s SEMA Show. Ford released some info and images of four Mustang projects that will be showcased in the Blue Oval booth this year, but our sources say that these won’t be the only ones. Nonetheless, the four that Ford deemed worthy of revealing to the public are from Forgiato Wheels, Creations n’ Chrome, MRT Performance and H&R Springs.

Starting with Forgiato’s creation, the wheel manufacturer looked to build a Mustang that clearly focused on their manufacturing of custom rollers for various vehicles. They chose to show off a three-piece staggered 21- and 22-inch setup on their Mustang while a TS Designs wide body matched to a 3dCarbon Boy Racer body kit is sure to set it apart from the crowd. Finished off with a matte pearl silver paint job courtesy of PPG and this Mustang looks to be a clear winner. Oh, and the obligatory Vortech supercharger can be seen under the hood.

Next up is a Spectra Chrome Boy Racer Red Mustang courtesy of Creations n’ Chrome. Accented by a carbon fiber hood, roof and trunk from Autosport Dynamics, this Mustang will clearly be the flashiest of the bunch. A custom chromoly roll cage was also fabricated by the folks at Creations n’ Chrome while a set of 18-inch HRE Wheels will further set off the car. Again, another Vortech supercharger can be seen under the hood while some race-inspired interior modifications will have to be seen at the show.

Third on the list is a ProCharger supercharger-equipped Mustang from MRT Performance. Further performance modifications include an MRT stainless steel MaxFlow h-pipe and half-back exhaust system while a set of H&R coilovers gives this Mustang enhanced handling capabilities. MRT then looked to the outside by giving it a custom hood and paint accents while the interior received a pair of Sparco race seats.

Last but not least, the folks over at H&R will be bringing an Edelbrock E-Force supercharged Mustang to the show, fully equipped with H&R Springs’ Coil RSS sport suspension. In addition, H&R also threw on their sway bars (front and rear) and Triple C adjustment bolts. This Mustang will have an unmistakable rumble thanks to a Flowmaster stainless steel exhaust while the exterior will feature a full body kit from Street Scene Equipment and custom paint by Tri-Star Enterprise.

Along with these four Mustangs, Ford will also display a selection of Fiesta and Focus models, along with several Explorer and F-Series trucks.

With the Fiat 500 having just launched at the LA Auto Show, the aftermarket has already started releasing plenty of toys for the Italian economy car. Set to debut at the Essen Motorshow in Germany later this month, Hamann and H&R have teamed up to release their Fiat 500 rendition and there’s quite the surprise under the hood.

Hamann has taken the little Fiat 500 and turned it into a potent street machine, taking the stock 135-hp to an impressive 275-hp. Move over MINI Cooper! The horsepower bump is attributed to an ECU retune and a new exhaust. Worth noting however is that the horsepower jump comes from the 1.4L turbocharged powerplant – so the ECU retune obviously shoves in a ton more boost and fuel.

Along with the performance upgrades, Hamann has come up with an entire kit with new front and rear bumpers, side skirts and wheels. Braking has also been enhanced through Hamann. All of this means nothing if the car is still rocking a stock ride height. Thankfully H&R has already developed a lowering kit for the Fiat 500 and a set of their billet wheel spacers gave the wheels a more aggressive fitment.

Ford has just announced the remainder of its SEMA lineup of custom cars, which will joint the eight Fiestas on display at Ford’s usually huge presence at the aftermarket expo. Along with a mishmash of other customized Fords, the Blue Oval will use the show to put the focus on its new 2011 Explorer crossover, showing off three modified versions of the “truck” in three different styles: Urban, Luxury and Adventure.

Not surprisingly the Urban Explorer was created by Funkmaster Flex, while Galpin Auto Sports built the Luxury model (above), complete with 24-inch wheels. Finally there’s the Lifestyle model built by CGS Motorsports with some up-scale touches while also highlighting the adventurous side of the crossover with items like carbon fiber bicycles.

In addition to the Explorer, Ford will also have on hand two Taurus SHOs, including one built by H&R Springs and another by Rick Bottom Designs with a 16,000 watt audio system. A pretty-tacking looking Ford Edge by K-Daddy Kustomz will also be a part of the display, as will a Ford Fusion Sport by Steeda Autosports with plenty of suspension upgrades. And finally, there’s the Lincoln MKX by the ID Agency. Normally a custom Lincoln isn’t worth much of a mention, but this one looks impressive and is described as a “Urban Assault Vehicle.”

MEET THE THREE FACES OF FORD EXPLORER: LUXURIOUS, ADVENTUROUS AND URBAN, ALL ON DISPLAY AT SEMA

The all-new Ford Explorer is bringing its reinvented style to this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show, which will be held Nov. 2-5 in Las Vegas

The all-new, capable, fuel-efficient Ford Explorer provides a perfect base for customizers to create ultimate versions of the modern SUV, including an ultra-luxury Bond Explorer with iPad, an Explorer for outdoor adventurers, and the Funkmaster Flex urban SUV

Customized versions of Ford Taurus SHO, Edge and Fusion Sport also will be showcased, along with the all-new 2011 Lincoln MKX

Dearborn, Mich., Oct. 14, 2010 – The all-new Ford Explorer has been turning heads with its eye-catching, modern design, and things will be no different when it hits the floor of the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show this year, which will be held Nov. 2-5 in Las Vegas.

“It’s so new and reinvented, and the styling is standout from the inside out,” said Craig Patterson, Ford Explorer marketing manager. “Explorer is the perfect choice for people to accessorize. Those who want to customize it are starting from a great base that is extremely well received, and that’s where the attraction lies.”

For the 2010 SEMA show, Explorer will take to the Ford stand along with customized versions of Ford Taurus SHO, Edge and Fusion Sport, as well as the all-new Lincoln MKX. The Explorers on the show floor will open up customers’ minds as to the possibilities that can be created with the all-new SUV.

“We designed three different images for the Explorers at SEMA,” said Melvin Betancourt, Ford specialty design manager. “The new Explorer resonates as a modern SUV, so the modifications play off all the great technology and features that the vehicle is equipped with.”

An Explorer customized by Funkmaster Flex and Team Baurtwell shows off the urban appeal of the new SUV, and comes standard with street cred inside and out. The look is highlighted by three-piece forged billet wheels, which are complemented by 24-inch Cooper tires. Baer brakes provide the stopping power.

The design that sets this Explorer apart starts with the exterior, with custom touches from Team Baurtwell and Funkmaster Flex including custom logos. The interior offers Katzkin two-tone leather seats with custom interior accents and Funkmaster Flex logos. A Sony Xplod audio system ensures customers have the ultimate listening experience.

Another Explorer concept, designed by Galpin Auto Sports, takes a vehicle with luxury appointments and makes it into an ultra-luxurious ride that even James Bond would enjoy. Using the character as their inspiration, the Galpin team used 24-inch wheels, custom silver paint on the exterior and modified exterior light treatments to convey that image.

The custom interior shows off its luxury side with a leather-trimmed headliner that has suede running down the center, a look that’s replicated on the seat inserts. An iPad pops up from the second-row console, and is viewable in either landscape or portrait mode.

“This is a luxury, high-end vehicle that serves multiple purposes,” said Tedros Mengiste of Galpin Auto Sports. “The Galpin Auto Sports Explorer is at home going off-road or transporting you to exclusive events. It meets your discerning expectations, and does it with style and substance.”

CGS Performance Products’ take on Explorer shows off what a luxury vehicle for an active customer looks like. The look runs throughout the monochromatic silver Explorer, and is completed by two carbon fiber mountain bikes on the roof rack.

“This SUV is all about outdoor adventure and doing it in comfort,” said Casey Scranton, president, CGS Performance Products. “This customer can use the vehicle every day and will have no problem taking it camping or kayaking on the weekends.”

The luxury details are evident in the built-in video screens in the headrests, 22-inch silver wheels and the complete custom leather interior that’s designed to resemble the links on a watch band. A CGS cat-back exhaust provides more power, a throatier sound, and even improved fuel economy.

2011 Ford Taurus SHO by Rick Bottom Designs
The Taurus SHOx by Rick Bottom Designs gives striking looks a new meaning with a blue paint scheme with contrasting graphics, ground effects kit and custom hood, grille and spoiler. The interior offers a custom rear console with interchangeable inserts and a 10.4-inch flip-down monitor, along with an audio system with 16,000 watts of power.

2011 Ford Taurus SHO by H&R Springs
Tuned by H&R Springs, this Taurus SHO offers a Borla cat-back exhaust and K&N air filter to liven up engine performance. H&R Sport Springs have been installed, and three-piece 22-inch wheels painted in a white gold color complement the white platinum SHO. The exterior is set apart with color-matched lower body panels, custom European hood vents and subtle gray mist graphics.

2011 Ford Edge by K-Daddyz Kustomz
With a touch of urban luxury, this K-Daddyz Kustomz Edge boasts 22-inch wheels with radically lowered suspension. This Edge is ready to cruise the coast, with a custom paint scheme featuring airbrushing and pin striping, along with a custom surfboard rack and panoramic sunroof. The leather and suede interior comes with Dual Head restraint DVD by INVISION™, and puts the finishing details on the crossover.

2011 Ford Fusion Sport by Steeda Autosports
With increased power and more aggressive handling, this Fusion Sport by Steeda Autosports offers what performance enthusiasts are looking for. The car comes with specially tuned front and rear lowering sport springs, performance-tuned dampers and antiroll bars for increased roll stiffness. The look is rounded out with Steeda’s clearcoat bar code graphics package with orange accents.

With all the Camaros at the 2009 SEMA Show, the number of Japanese cars were few and the number of European cars almost non-existent. H&R Springs was one of the few booths with a strong Euro presence with this 2010 Golf TDI being one of our favorites. With a Volkswagen Accessories complete aero kit, it just looks too cool to be a diesel. And yet thats exactly what it is.

The car sits low on a set of H&R Ultra Performance Coilovers, while a set of sway bars help keep it planted in the corners. Also helping in the handling department are some wheel spacers, which make room for the big 20-inch OZ Superleggera HLT wheels.

Additional highlights include the Volkswagen Accessories aluminum pedals and TDI floor mats, Custom Race Tuner exhaust tips, as well as the stylish German flag graphics provided by Sticky Jewel Graphics.

The 2010 Mustang is here and its only fitting that the most customized car in the world will be the focus of attention at the 2009 SEMA Show. Ford will have eight Mustangs, modified by tuning and race shops on display. Plus, there are certain to be  numerous others at the show. Tuners like 3dCarbon and Galpin Auto Sports will showcase their creative sides, using the 2010 Mustang, while dedicated performance shops like Steeda Autosports and Paul’s High Performance will cater more to the performance traditionalists, focusing on making power and putting it to the ground.

3dCarbon Boy Racer Mustang

First up is 3dCarbon, which will recreate the “Boy Racer” Mustang that it first built back in 2005, based on the previous generation Mustang. Bright red with white stripes, this car will take take the Stang’s classic lines and add some wild sport compact-themed aerodynamics.

Galpin Auto Sports Mustang GT Convertible

Next up is the Galpin Auto Sports Mustang GT Convertible, which is set to recieve a supercharger for a total of 550-hp. And in true Galpin fashion, it will be an extreme machine with a custom wide body conversion.

H&R Springs 2010 Ford Mustang

Now we haven’t seen it in the sheetmetal yet, but the H&R Springs Mustang looks like it might just be our favorite so far. Highlights will include the modern accents like LED lighting and a luxurious interior. And because it’s from H&R we can be sure it handles like a dream.

Paul’s High Performance 2010 Mustang

The Christmas tree loving team at Paul’s High Performance have built a beast for low 60 footers and high trap speeds. The car features a big functional hood and rear wing, along with plenty of other areo and a serious set of wheels and tires. What’s under the hood? We’ll have to wait for the SEMA Show to find out, but Paul’s boasts it will be “way ahead of the competition.”

Steeda Autosports Q350 Mustang

We’ve already brought you lots on the Steeda Q350 Mustang, but the SEMA Show will be the venue where the racing experts at Steeds Autosports divulge their secret. With more wins, record and championships in production based Mustangs than any other Mustang tuner, Steeda promises a track-tuned and street legal package that is sure to deliver both thrills and every day usability.

Street Scene Equipment 2010 Mustang

The folks at Street Scene Equipment are keeping most of the car’s details under wraps until SEMA, but it promises to be a complete package, with power, style and handling that is built for the street.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. RTR-C Mustang

If this were a beauty contest, the Vaughn Gittin Jr. RTR-C would be a good bet for the crown. With a carbon fiber body this mean looking beast is the creation of world championship drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. It’s got 550-hp under the hood and not only uses modern design influences, but modern technology too.

Ford Vehicle Personalization Mustang

Finally, we saved the best worst for last, with the Ford Vehicle Personalization Mustang, which is being used to showcase (rather poorly it seems) Ford Custom Accessories. Said to be inspired by brands like Prada, Stella McCartney and Balenciaga (no three wolf moon shirts here), the Mustang features a Carbon Black Metallic paint, as well as gold tinted headlights and hideous 20-inch gold wheels. Inside promises to be just as bad with gold leather set and door trim inserts, as well as gold on the steering wheel and shifter boot. (A true SEMA show car).

MUSTANG FLEXES MUSCLE AT 2009 SEMA SHOW – POWERED BY FORD

LAS VEGAS – The Ford Mustang, America’s favorite muscle car, is also the most customized car in the $31.8 billion aftermarket industry, and there will be no shortage of polished-up ponies at this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show, which is being held Nov. 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“The Mustang is an iconic car,” said Melvin Betancourt, Ford SEMA design manager. “People always want to reinvent it, and everybody has an idea about what the next Mustang should be.”

According to Allison Revier, Ford Mustang marketing manager, much of Mustang’s popularity in the aftermarket is steeped in tradition.

“Many fathers pass down their classic Mustangs to their sons to restore,” she said. “They form emotional ties to the car and create special memories.”

But what really drives Mustang’s success is a universally shared desire among owners to make their steed unique, says Revier. “The Mustang is a ‘Look at me’ car,” she said. “You don’t want to have the same Mustang that the guy down the street has. You want to stand apart.”

In an effort to feed customization-hungry pony car enthusiasts, Ford recently launched the 2010 Mustang Customizer at www.the2010Mustang.com, a Web site offering an online experience that allows people to create their own virtual Mustangs, choosing colors and decals to complement the all-new design.

“Since we know the first thing customers do when they buy a Mustang is customize it, we wanted to show them everything they could do,” explained Revier. “Some of it is concept – changing colors and stripes – but the site also gives us a chance to showcase our Genuine Ford Accessories as well as other aftermarket parts.”

The response has been overwhelming. In just two months, more than 1 million custom Mustangs have been built on the site. “The Mustang Customizer allows users to get closer to this new product, as well as connect to the brand in a creative way because they can truly make it their own,” said Adam Barrow, Ford digital marketing analyst.  “Self-expression is what this brand is about.”

Self-expression is evident with the Mustang project vehicles on display at this year’s SEMA show, according to Revier. “They all look dramatically different, and that’s what I think is so great about it,” she said. “Everyone starts out with the same vehicle, but each aftermarket builder turns it into something completely distinctive.”

Ernie Bunnell, vice president of sales and marketing for 3dCarbon of Newport Beach, Calif., says his Mustang is unique because it is a modern-day version of 3dCarbon’s award-winning 2005 Mustang Boy Racer.

“We are introducing the 2010 Boy Racer – an evolution of styling from the old to the new,” said Bunnell. “With its bold, aerodynamic design, this vehicle is sure to turn heads.”

In addition to a 3dCarbon Boy Racer body kit, the red Mustang with white racing stripes features a front “E” grille, rear window trim, window louvers with gel decal inserts, headlight splitters and decklid spoiler – all created by 3dCarbon.

The official motto of Steeda Autosports, “Speed matters,” is most certainly reflected in the Steeda Mustang that will be on display at SEMA.

“The Steeda Q350 is embodied with the very soul of Mustang performance,” said Dario Orlando, president of Steeda Autosports. “It combines the dynamics and agility of a high-performance sports racer with the everyday practicality and comfort of America’s original pony car – all in one integrated package.”

The Steeda Mustang has an array of modifications, including a functional body kit with unique aerodynamic features, an upgraded street/track suspension system, numerous powertrain enhancements and a top-notch sport interior.

Ford Vehicle Personalization also will have a Mustang on display at SEMA. The vehicle, which features Ford Custom Accessories, sports a unique Carbon Black Metallic custom-colored exterior accented with satin gold 20-inch wheels and gold-tinted headlights and fog lamps. The interior continues the gold theme, with gold leather seat and door trim inserts, seat piping, steering wheel cover and shifter boot.

“Metallic gold is currently very much in fashion throughout the design world,” said Mark Conforzi, chief designer, Ford Vehicle Personalization. “There is a wide variety of modern gold finishes that can be seen in fashion apparel designs from Stella McCartney, Dior, Prada and Alexander McQueen. I would like to encourage gold finishes on our future products, in subtle and technical applications presented in a modern way.”
