Hurst Performance is well established for their limited edition muscle cars and their newest entry to their collection is this turbocharged Chevrolet Camaro V6. Perhaps it’s a sign of the times when even domestic vehicles are going the turbocharger route for forced induction rather than a supercharger, but it is worth noting that Hurst’s Chevy Camaro won’t be powered by your traditional turbocharger setup.

Teaming up with tire manufacturer BFGoodrich, Hurst has opted for STS’ rear-mounted turbocharger setup that has been popular among the Corvette crowd. And interestingly enough they’re starting with a V6 rather than the SS V8. But bragging rights goes to Hurst by throwing down 50% more horsepower and torque than the factory 304-hp from the 3.6L V6. All the while saving 30% more gas than the larger 6.2L V8 from the SS Camaro.

The exterior of the car receives a subtle rear deck spoiler from Hurst’s AIR-SPEED line and 18-inch Hurst T1 alloy wheels for the classic yet muscle-car inspired look. Painted graphics are the finishing touch to the classy exterior.

Handling suspension duties are Hurst / Detroit Speed coilovers while the 18-inch wheels are (obviously) wrapped with BFGoodrich’s Radial T/A Spec Redline Edition rubber. The interior receives quite the overhaul as well with Katzkin leather from Hurst with embroidered Hurst logos and contrasting stitching. Each vehicle receives a numbered plaque with Hurst announcing that only 50 of these beauties will be made each year in Irvine, CA.

Check out the official press release after the break.

PRESS RELEASE

Irvine, Calif. (August 12, 2010) – For the first time in company history, Hurst Performance Vehicles is offering enthusiasts a turbocharged V6 powered Hurst branded muscle car with the introduction of the Redline Series Hurst Camaro. The company, long known for its highly collectible limited edition muscle cars, announced this new vehicle as part of a partnership with performance tire manufacturer BFGoodrich® Tires, highlighting its BFGoodrich Radial T/A® Spec Redline Edition tire in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Radial T/A line of tires.

The new Redline Series Hurst Camaro begins as an ordinary RS V6 from Chevrolet and is modified at the company’s Irvine headquarters transforming into a modern muscle car that performs as well as it looks.

For the exterior, the Redline Series Hurst Camaro wears a unique combination of painted graphics and aerodynamic enhancements. An exclusive Hurst AIR-SPEED™ rear deck spoiler and specially designed five-spoke 18” Hurst T1 alloy wheels are unique to Redline Series cars and help finish off the exterior performance modifications.

The centerpieces of this special edition vehicle are its significant horsepower and fuel economy gains courtesy of forced induction via an STS Turbo. The STS turbocharger is remote mounted in the rear of the car to the Hurst Modified exhaust system. As a result of turbocharging, there is a 50% gain in rear wheel horsepower and additional torque, all the while delivering 30% better fuel economy than the stock Camaro SS with its 6.2 liter V8.

The added power is channeled via either manual or an automatic Hurst HARD-Drive “Pistol Grip” Shifters and put to the ground through the Hurst/Detroit Speed coil-over suspension, sway bars and special BFGoodrich Radial T/A Spec Redline Edition rubber. An optional gauge package is available and includes boost and exhaust temperature gauges

Just as one would expect, the interior is the standard of cool with Hurst/Katzkin leather seating finished with contrast stitching and embroidered Hurst logos, a real metal sequentially numbered interior dash plaque and logo-embroidered floor mats.

Only 50 of these vehicles will be built by Hurst each year and each comes with a custom Hurst car cover, a signed Certificate of Authenticity and signatures in the trunk from the Hurst Team to complete the car’s provenance.

“This vehicle represents a dramatic leap forward in muscle car technology,” said Hurst President Nate Shelton. “For the first time ever, we’ve been able to create a car that can compete, and often times out perform, vehicles costing much more, while returning increased fuel economy.”

The Redline Series Hurst Camaro is sold exclusively by Hurst Authorized Dealers. Further information can be found on the Hurst Performance website at www.hurst-performance.com or by calling the facility directly at (949) 261-5500.

HURST PERFORMANCE TAKES PERSONALIZATION A STEP FURTHER WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF HURST GARAGE

Enthusiasts Can Upgrade Vehicles with Hurst Components

at Hurst Facility in Southern California

Irvine, Calif. (August 9, 2010) – For the first time in company history, Hurst Performance is offering enthusiasts a chance to have their vehicles upgraded and personalized with one-of-a-kind Hurst components at Hurst Garage, the newest addition to Hurst Headquarters in Southern California.

Open to the public beginning in summer 2010, Hurst Garage technicians will begin by offering tailored customization options to current model Camaro, Mustang and Challenger owners. Other vehicle models will be welcomed in the near future, as well.

The very same Hurst technicians who design, test and build the limited edition Performance Series vehicles are responsible for the work done at the Hurst Garage. Technicians utilize quality components to modify a client’s vehicle to his liking; ensuring the same level of high performance, craftsmanship and attention to detail that made Hurst a household name, some 40 years ago.

Clients receive a unique, individually signed, dash-mounted plaque and certificate of authenticity recognizing the vehicle as being Hurst Factory Modified. Each Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is then cataloged for registration in the Hurst archives so the pedigree of the vehicle can be traced for future owners and collectors. Upon completion of the work, clients are invited to take personal delivery of their modified vehicle at Hurst Performance Headquarters, where they can also take a guided tour of the facility.

“To many enthusiasts, personalization is paramount. Hurst Garage will allow current owners with an eye for collectability and refinement to bring their cars to the Hurst facility and have them customized to their taste, with any of our Hurst products,” said Nate Shelton, President and Chairman of Hurst Performance Vehicles. “We are proud to introduce Hurst Garage as the next generation in Hurst customization, and we invite current Challenger, Mustang and Camaro owners to become part of the Hurst Family.”

Hurst Garage will consider customization and modification of cars from anywhere around the world and will assist customers with shipping arrangements to the Hurst Performance Headquarters, located in Irvine, Calif. The Hurst Garage is also available for custom and confidential commissions, allowing clients to “Hurst-ify” vehicles not ordinarily associated with the Hurst line of performance tuned products. Upon receipt of the client’s vehicle, and throughout the vehicle’s build, updates are sent to the client along with images detailing the history and progress of work.

Further information can be found on the Hurst Performance website at www.hurst-performance.com or by calling the facility directly at (949) 261-5500.

Hurst Performance Vehicles is looking to send the Pontiac brand out with a bang as it prepares to launch a high output version of the G8 sedan. In collaboration with automotive legend “Doc” Watson, Hurst will build 52 G8 models complete with superchargers, suspension modifications, custom interior, wheels, a Hurst shifter and, of course, the company’s iconic white/gold and black/gold colors.

The Hurst/Pontiac G8 H.O. will be a modern day version of George Hurst’s “Executive Hot Rod.”

Along with those G8 models, Hurst will also build 10 G6 Convertibles.

“Doc started all of this with George back in 1960 with Hurst Performance Research. His Hurst H.O. Pontiacs have stormed drag strips and main streets across the country for 50 years,” said Hurst Chairman, Nate Shelton. “There could not be a better time to honor Doc and the legendary Pontiac marque.”

Over those 50 years Watson is responsible for bringing over 80 different performance vehicles (both for the street and the track) to life.

Specifics like power output and price are not yet available but will be made public on August 1st on the Hurst website:

HURST PERFORMANCE AND “DOC” WATSON ANNOUNCE

NEW HURST/PONTIAC MODELS

Revered Performance Brand Teams Up with Legendary Visionary to Make History Again!

Flint, Mich. (June 29, 2009) – Hurst Performance Vehicles, one of the most recognized and respected names in automobile history, announced that it has teamed up with newly appointed Hurst Director Emeritus and legendary performance visionary, “Doc” Watson, to build two new Special Edition Hurst/Pontiacs – a 2010 HURST/Pontiac H.O. version of the G8 and a G6 convertible. Hurst Performance President, Ron Flint, and Watson made the announcement together on Saturday at a special event held at the Sloan Museum in Flint, Michigan – the birthplace of GM.

Hurst Performance in Irvine, California, will hand-build only 52 examples of the 2010 HURST/Pontiac H.O. – a modern-day version of George Hurst’s “Executive Hot Rod”. These numbered cars will feature Hurst’s iconic white/gold and black/gold colors along with forged alloy Hurst wheels, an exclusive Hurst shifter, supercharged engine, suspension mods and a specially trimmed interior.

Hurst will also commemorate Doc’s famous Pace Cars and build ten HURST/Pontiac G6 convertibles to be used as parade and special event cars.

Watson’s contribution to the American performance landscape is unrivaled. During a 50-year career in the development, manufacturing and marketing of special vehicles, Watson brought to life more than 80 performance cars and racing vehicles, including the original Hurst Oldsmobile, the Hemi-Under-Glass and the 1972 Hurst/Pontiac SSJ. These new HURST/Pontiac’s are yet another chapter in his illustrious career.

“If we combine the wisdom earned through the heritage of past Hurst vehicles with the vision of globally beneficial vehicles, we will not be living through the death of the Muscle Car,” Watson explained. “Rather, we will see the birth of exciting, passion-filled performance vehicles – vehicles that will give new meaning to lean, mean, and environmentally clean machines. It’s a ‘new machine age,’ and Hurst will be first once again.”

Hurst Performance has once again partnered with the Woodhouse Automotive Family of Blair Nebraska as the exclusive Hurst Authorized Pontiac Dealer for sales and service of these exceptional vehicles.

Specifications, pricing and ordering information will be available August 1st on the Hurst website at www.hurst-performance.com.
