Today’s cars all seem to be focused on delivering fun driving experience that’s still friendly on gas. Those two elements are often an important factor in a car purchase, but sometimes you just want to feral thrill of a big, loud engine.

Lets take a look at our top ten list of the most affordable cars with big V8s. Just about all of these cars have at least 300 horses under the hood, and have the personality of old-time muscle cars. The range here includes sports cars, sedans and luxury vehicles, so you might see something out of place while looking through this top 10. The price range also starts off pretty steep, but ventures into real bargain-bin prices near the top three.

At the end of our list is the new Chevrolet Camaro.  ZL1At $54,095 The Camaro ZL1 might not sound like value. That is, until you consider that it has 580-hp and makes a whopping 556 lb·ft of torque. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 helps you get to 60 mph in under four seconds, and this hopped-up Camaro is also capable of lapping the famous Nurburgring in 7:41.27. The ZL1 accomplishes this thanks to its high-tech Magnetic Ride Control, which you’ll find in some high-class exotics like the Ferrari 458 Italia.

The Kia K9, code named the KH, is Kia’s sister car to the Hyundai Equus and Genesis, and will be the brand’s first attempt at an upscale rear wheel drive sedan.

We get a full view of the K9 for the first time, out driving in what we assume is South Korea, instead of just spy photos.

Calling the K9 upscale seems warranted: It seems to be taking design cues from the German luxury car makers BMW and Mercedes. Based on the look we get in these videos, it seems like the K9 will be heavily related to the Hyundai’s Genesis and Equus sedans, though that is purely speculative. We’re guessing the K9 will be run by a 4.6-liter V8, which makes 385 hp sourced from the Genesis, or a larger 5.0-liter V8 that can produce as much as 429 hp.

“This all-new rear-wheel drive large sedan will definitely become the leading model of our lineup around the world, showcasing the best of the best of Kia,” Kia marketing executive Soon-Nam Lee said.

The K9 will likely be on sale in Korea later this year, with the worldwide shipment probably coming by early-to-mid 2013.

Tenacious Hyundai — the company that refuses to quit edging into niches, entering new segments and surprising consumers.

If you hadn’t guessed, they’re at it again. This time, trying to pitch the Genesis and Equus luxury sedans as fleet limousines at the International LCT Show in Las Vegas. Don’t feel bad if you’re unfamiliar with that too. As previously stated, this is niche stuff.

LCT stands for limousine, charter and tour operators. The International LCT Show is the largest gathering of people who build and use limos, so naturally Hyundai made an appearance there to push the goods according to the LCT website.

While limo services have traditionally relied almost exclusively on Lincoln Town Cars and Cadillac Escalades, Hyundai is hoping to break in by offering purchase incentives. The Genesis will come with a $3,500 discount, while the larger Equus’ price sheds $4,500.

Who knows, the next time you call for an airport limo a Hyundai could appear in the driveway.

Plans are currently not in place to implement a Hyundai luxury sub-brand running with the Genesis nameplate, Hyundai America CEO John Krafcik confirmed to Ward’s Auto.

Earlier this month we reported that Hyundai boss Dave Zuchowski confirmed the possibility that “there’s a conversation going on within the company that says, ‘Does having the Hyundai badge on the premium vehicles sell more vehicles, or does it restrict us from selling more vehicles?”

Despite that, it seems the most recent conversation in Las Vegas with Krafcik points to the contrary, that in fact there won’t be a separate brand.

“We have no plan to change our Equus and Genesis retail approach – it’s working,” he said to Ward’s Auto.

Despite not having plans to differentiate the premium line which has relatively sky-scraping prices like the Equus’ $59,00 MSRP in contrast to their $12,545 sub-compact Accent, Krafcik seemed more positive on the possibility of an all-wheel drive Genesis in the future. Offering such a car would further expand their top-tier line which otherwise might have served as another reason to split the products apart.

“We believe we should have AWD on the next Genesis platform,” Krafcik said.

Hyundai announced pricing today for its 2013 Genesis Coupes, both the 2.0-liter turbo version and the more powerful 3.8-liter R-Spec, which get serious power boosts over the previous model year.

The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder model is more expensive than the 2012, starting at $24,250 though it’s probably money well spent. That extra $2000 over last  year’s starting price buys you an impressive 60 extra horsepower when you use premium gas, thanks to direct injection in the refreshed engine.

If you can muster the extra $4,500 we would suggest going with the R-Spec model. It doesn’t get quite as dramatic of an increase as its four-banger little brother, but there’s still a considerable boost in play here. $28,750 puts you behind the wheel with 348 hp at your right foot’s command; a 42-hp jump over the 2012.

Fuel economy will probably improve in the automatics given that the company is trading up to an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters, though the six-speed manual is $1,250 less and the clear choice for enthusiasts.

A more aggressive look comes from the wide-open mouth, redesigned headlights and more chiseled body. A small rear spoiler also hints at the coupes’s new power.

Patience isn’t even all that necessary here, the new model year goes on sale next month, meaning you can probably bargain your way into a 2012 for a steal or sit pretty in the latest and greatest. The choice is yours.

Hyundai is set to finally debut the 2013 Genesis Coupe at next week’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and to stir up some excitement they’ve released a new teaser video for their next-generation sports coupe.

The teaser surprisingly reveals quite a bit of the new Genesis Coupe, albeit in actual bits and pieces rather than full car shots. Nonetheless, there aren’t any real surprises as to what it’ll look like after all the photos we’ve seen, but it’s nice to see more details on the newly revamped model. The 3.8 badge that’s also seen in the video proves that the new Genesis Coupe will be plenty potent with its Lambda V6 with 345-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

It’s been a fun ride waiting for Hyundai to officially reveal the 2013 Genesis Coupe, with spy photos to supposed Photoshop renders to teasers from Hyundai. And now the supposed Photoshop render has been proven to be the real deal, as Hyundai posted a trio of photos showing off the 2013 Genesis Coupe in all its glory.

No surprises yet with what will be under the hood, with Hyundai simply stating that a more powerful V6 engine will be under the hood. Oddly enough, the Hyundai Facebook post also claims that it’ll be a 2012 Genesis model but either way it’s obvious Hyundai has employed its Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy on the new Genesis Coupe.

For now we’ll still keep our fingers crossed that Hyundai engineers are taking notes from Rhys Millen Racing and finds a way to give consumers a Tau engine option for the new Genesis Coupe.

Despite being confirmed a Photoshop fake by Hyundai themselves to Jalopnik, we’re pretty confident that the production 2013 Hyundai Genesis will look very close to this render. We’ve already seen some spy shots here and here, which gives us reasons to believe that this Photoshop isn’t far off from the real thing.

Nonetheless, if this is what we’re to expect from Hyundai’s 2013 Genesis, it’s obvious that the coupe will be borrowing some styling cues from the Veloster, giving it quite the more aggressive stance. What we still don’t know is what will lie underneath the hood, but after checking out Rhys Millen Racing’s SEMA creation, one can only hope that Hyundai will offer a 5.0L V8 Genesis coupe somewhere in their model lineup.

We’ve seen sneak preview shots of Enjuku Racing’s Hyundai Genesis project, and now it’s sitting happily at the BC Racing booth showing off its supercharged LS1 engine swap. The swapped Genesis is sitting on a new set of white BC Racing  wheels sporting a perfectly aggressive fitment. The LS1 swap is clearly executed well, sporting a Chase Bays wiring harness and a fancy supercharger.

The Genesis project is lowered on a set of BC Racing coilovers, while the LS1 has some goodies from ISIS Performance, SPEC Clutch and Quaife. A brake upgrade came courtesy of Wilwood while the carbon fiber goods are from VIS Racing.

We really have to give a hand to Rhys Millen Racing and Hyundai this year. In an age where everything somehow finds a way to leak onto the Internet, this is the first we’re hearing of the project that RMR is currently working on for this year’s SEMA Show.

Hyundai has released a teaser video revealing that Rhys is planning something extra special for this year’s show. Over the past four years, RMR and Hyundai have partnered up to create one-of-a-kind show-stopping vehicles, and it looks like this year they want it to be the biggest and best yet.

Hyundai will unveiled a one-off Genesis coupe at SEMA, dubbed the Genesis Hurricane SC, built in collaboration with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

Magnuson is a well known maker of superchargers, and will be contributing the “SC” part of the equation, though technical details haven’t been released. Horsepower has been announced at 450 horsepower.

What has us intrigued is a small nugget buried in the press release, where a Hyundai engineer mentions that HATCI (Hyundai’s Michigan technical Center) has been “…working for years with Magnuson to ensure high engine output is available on future Hyundai vehicles.”

Does this mean that a supercharged Genesis Coupe is on the way as a replacement for a long-rumored but often denied V8-powered Genesis Coupe?

Even though its official North American debut is quite a ways off at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, several photos have surfaced throughout the Internet revealing the 2013 facelifted Genesis Coupe. Now we’ve spotted the most revealing photo of the Hyundai Veloster-influenced Genesis, featuring a much bolder front end while the rest of the body looks traditional Genesis-esque. We have little reason to believe that the actual production vehicle will stray very far from these leaked photos.

We’re still confident that Hyundai will equip the 2013 Genesis Coupe with a more powerful base 2.0L turbocharged engine with 274-hp, while the 3.8L V6 from the Genesis Sedan with 333-hp will be available as an option. The only thing that would make the next-generation Genesis Coupe killer would be a 5.0L V8 option with 429-hp – just like on the Genesis Sedan R-Spec model.
