Hyundai is set to finally debut the 2013 Genesis Coupe at next week’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and to stir up some excitement they’ve released a new teaser video for their next-generation sports coupe.

The teaser surprisingly reveals quite a bit of the new Genesis Coupe, albeit in actual bits and pieces rather than full car shots. Nonetheless, there aren’t any real surprises as to what it’ll look like after all the photos we’ve seen, but it’s nice to see more details on the newly revamped model. The 3.8 badge that’s also seen in the video proves that the new Genesis Coupe will be plenty potent with its Lambda V6 with 345-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

It’s been a fun ride waiting for Hyundai to officially reveal the 2013 Genesis Coupe, with spy photos to supposed Photoshop renders to teasers from Hyundai. And now the supposed Photoshop render has been proven to be the real deal, as Hyundai posted a trio of photos showing off the 2013 Genesis Coupe in all its glory.

No surprises yet with what will be under the hood, with Hyundai simply stating that a more powerful V6 engine will be under the hood. Oddly enough, the Hyundai Facebook post also claims that it’ll be a 2012 Genesis model but either way it’s obvious Hyundai has employed its Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy on the new Genesis Coupe.

For now we’ll still keep our fingers crossed that Hyundai engineers are taking notes from Rhys Millen Racing and finds a way to give consumers a Tau engine option for the new Genesis Coupe.

Despite being confirmed a Photoshop fake by Hyundai themselves to Jalopnik, we’re pretty confident that the production 2013 Hyundai Genesis will look very close to this render. We’ve already seen some spy shots here and here, which gives us reasons to believe that this Photoshop isn’t far off from the real thing.

Nonetheless, if this is what we’re to expect from Hyundai’s 2013 Genesis, it’s obvious that the coupe will be borrowing some styling cues from the Veloster, giving it quite the more aggressive stance. What we still don’t know is what will lie underneath the hood, but after checking out Rhys Millen Racing’s SEMA creation, one can only hope that Hyundai will offer a 5.0L V8 Genesis coupe somewhere in their model lineup.

We’ve seen sneak preview shots of Enjuku Racing’s Hyundai Genesis project, and now it’s sitting happily at the BC Racing booth showing off its supercharged LS1 engine swap. The swapped Genesis is sitting on a new set of white BC Racing  wheels sporting a perfectly aggressive fitment. The LS1 swap is clearly executed well, sporting a Chase Bays wiring harness and a fancy supercharger.

The Genesis project is lowered on a set of BC Racing coilovers, while the LS1 has some goodies from ISIS Performance, SPEC Clutch and Quaife. A brake upgrade came courtesy of Wilwood while the carbon fiber goods are from VIS Racing.

We really have to give a hand to Rhys Millen Racing and Hyundai this year. In an age where everything somehow finds a way to leak onto the Internet, this is the first we’re hearing of the project that RMR is currently working on for this year’s SEMA Show.

Hyundai has released a teaser video revealing that Rhys is planning something extra special for this year’s show. Over the past four years, RMR and Hyundai have partnered up to create one-of-a-kind show-stopping vehicles, and it looks like this year they want it to be the biggest and best yet.

Hyundai will unveiled a one-off Genesis coupe at SEMA, dubbed the Genesis Hurricane SC, built in collaboration with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

Magnuson is a well known maker of superchargers, and will be contributing the “SC” part of the equation, though technical details haven’t been released. Horsepower has been announced at 450 horsepower.

What has us intrigued is a small nugget buried in the press release, where a Hyundai engineer mentions that HATCI (Hyundai’s Michigan technical Center) has been “…working for years with Magnuson to ensure high engine output is available on future Hyundai vehicles.”

Does this mean that a supercharged Genesis Coupe is on the way as a replacement for a long-rumored but often denied V8-powered Genesis Coupe?

Even though its official North American debut is quite a ways off at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, several photos have surfaced throughout the Internet revealing the 2013 facelifted Genesis Coupe. Now we’ve spotted the most revealing photo of the Hyundai Veloster-influenced Genesis, featuring a much bolder front end while the rest of the body looks traditional Genesis-esque. We have little reason to believe that the actual production vehicle will stray very far from these leaked photos.

We’re still confident that Hyundai will equip the 2013 Genesis Coupe with a more powerful base 2.0L turbocharged engine with 274-hp, while the 3.8L V6 from the Genesis Sedan with 333-hp will be available as an option. The only thing that would make the next-generation Genesis Coupe killer would be a 5.0L V8 option with 429-hp – just like on the Genesis Sedan R-Spec model.

Kia, spurred by the success of sibling Hyundai’s Genesis (and possibly Equus), wants a piece of the rear-drive pie. The company is planning a flagship luxury sedan and possibly a coupe, both in the vein of the Genesis duo.

Kia’s rear-drive adventures end there, however: there are no plans to introduce a pickup truck. There won’t be a Miata-sized roadster, either. Kia’s engineers aren’t interested in expanding into new markets, but tackling the segments they’re already comfortable in. And for Kia, this includes sedans (increasingly bigger ones, too) and coupes like the Forte.

The K7/Cadenza is currently their largest luxury sedan right now, which may or may not make it to America—but it’s a front-driver. The new RWD sedan will use the Genesis platform and series of V6 and V8 engines, and will slot above the Cadenza. If it’s built, it will enter the Korean market next May, and in about two years after that Stateside.

Lastly, Kia’s RWD sports car will be shown in Frankfurt in concept form. If people like it, Kia will target the BMW 3-Series—a lofty goal if there ever was one. It should be no surprise that the Kia sports car will be based on the Genesis, which will get a whole host of improvements by 2013 that will carry over to Kia, in their ambitious goal of besting the Bavarians.

And just think, only yesterday everybody was making bad jokes about the Rio. How fast they grow up these days!

Hyundai Germany has announced a limited production of just 50 units for a Genesis Coupe GT, inspired by the Hyundai Schuhmann Motor Sport Team. The team is famous for campaigning a Genesis Coupe at the Nurburgring 24-hour race. The Genesis Coupe GT will come with the standard 3.8L V6 powerplant with 306-hp and 266 lb-ft of torque but will feature a quad-tipped, stainless steel exhaust.

Other modifications to the Genesis Coupe GT include suspension upgrades, lowering the Genesis by about 1.2-inches giving it better handling and a meaner stance. The vehicle is lowered on a set of 19-inch OZ Ultraleggera wheels in a matte graphite finish, wrapped with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT rubber.

Available only in Germany, the Genesis Coupe GT is priced at $59,445 on today’s conversation rates.

Before there was Rhys Millen tearing up Pikes Peak, there was Rod Millen claiming records capturing the Unlimited crown fives times in 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. But now that he has successfully handed the motorsports torch to his son Rhys Millen, Rod has taken more of a backseat approach since 2000 from Pikes Peak. Sure he followed in his son’s footsteps trying his hand at drifting a Mazda RX-8 briefly, but it’s been over a decade since we’ve seen Rod Millen at the infamous Hill Climb.

The elder Millen once held the record at Pikes Peak with a time of 10:04.06 which wasn’t broken until 2007 by Nobuhiro Tajima with a 10:01.408. And now it looks like the itch to go racing has overcome Rod Millen and he’ll be making a return to Pikes Peak on June 26th to compete in the Time Attack 2WD class while his son, Rhys Millen, will try to reclaim the record with a 9-minute run in the Unlimited division with his Hyundai RMR PM580.

Rod Millen will be competing in the RMR Hyundai Genesis coupe and this will be his first appearance since 2000. Both Millens are looking to set records in their respective divisions, with Rhys hoping to fulfill his 10-plus year old dream of breaking into the 9 minute category.

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan has officially been launched and priced at $34,200. The 2012 Genesis which debuted at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, received minor changes to the interior and exterior, but the big change is the engine.

For $34,200, the base Genesis is available with a direct-injected 3.8-liter V6, rated at 333-hp and 291 lb-ft of torque, up 43-hp and 27 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, and the car can achieve 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

The next step up is the Genesis 4.6 starting from $44,500. This engine will produce the same numbers as 2011 with 385-hp and 333-lb-ft of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

For 2012, Hyundai has introduced the new 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 R-Spec model. Coupled to the new eight-speed automatic, this engine will produce a whopping 429-hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy will be 16/25 mpg city/highway. Special features on the R-Spec include unique 19-inch rims, sportier suspension tuning and more aggressive appearance updates. The R-Spec retails at $46,500.

The Hyundai Genesis will get all-wheel drive, but it won’t come until 2014, when the car is updated with a revised platform and other changes.

While Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has confirmed in the past that the Genesis, Genesis Coupe and Equus will offer this set-up, a report in Car and Driver indicates that it won’t be offered on the current generation models. The addition of AWD will certainly help sales of the car in the Snow Belt states, where buyers almost universally opt for AWD over their two-wheel counterparts. In the meantime, the Genesis gets revised powertrains, including an 8-speed automatic transmission and a new 429-horsepower 5.0L V8.
