Picture this: It’s Sunday, the early dawn hours and you’re cruising down an empty country road. You already know what’s under the hood of your new acquired ride, but you’ve yet to test what your new car’s stereo can do—save for the constant chattering of talk radio. It’s time for a little speaker blast, you say. So you plug in your iPod, load up your newest playlist (stocked with high-quality lossless FLAC files, of course), and crank the volume to 11 and the next thing you know you’re rocking out to the sounds of…  Joan Baez ?

Well, it’s either Joan or The Eagles. It doesn’t matter though, as this speaker test isn’t about your taste in music as much as it’s about testing your sound system’s fidelity. That’s according to Matt Kirsch, an audio engineer with General Motors, who recently published his personal Top 10 list of tracks he recommends using to assess the low ends, mid-ranges, and dynamic peaks of your car’s stereo system.

So while you might be a little offended by the presence of two back-to-back tracks by the Black Eyed Peas, they’re there to test the bass. The rest of the list includes a wide range of tunes from Johnny Cash, to Radiohead.

The Fiat 500 is coming soon to the U.S., and to celebrate, they’re giving you a cool app for free.

The Talking Italian Phrasebook app by Coolgorilla can now be downloaded for free in iTunes, courtesy of the FIAT 500. Offering over 500 professionally translated words and phrases in both text and audio, the Talking Italian Phrasebook give you the Italian basics, making it easy to get around on vacation or impress your date at that little Italian restaurant.

This app doesn’t need an Internet connect to work, which comes in handy if you’re overseas and don’t want to pay those pesky roaming data charges. It also means it will work in those off-the-beaten- path areas that aren’t listed in the tour books.

You can choose from 40 different categories, which include travel, food, shopping and romance. It also comes with an easy to navigate menu system and search facility. You can download the app here.

It seems like everyone absolutely has to make an app for everything nowadays, and Rolls-Royce‘s marketing department didn’t skip a beat in jumping on the bandwagon. The free app released by Rolls-Royce gives users the ability to customize their own Rolls-Royce Ghost, similar to what is seen on their online website customization.

So if you’re looking to impress that fine lady at the bar by showing off your car, head on over to the app store and download the app and get to customizing. You’ll be able to go through 12 colors, three kinds of wheels, eight shades of leather and five types of veneer highlights. And once you pick up that dream girl by showing off your fake car, you’ll be able to hit up the convenient dealer locator to place yours on order before she finds out you’re just a fraud.
