10. 2013 Mercedes-Benz G65
Day three of our Dream Car Garages series is brought to you by the wishful mind of Road Test Editor Richard Cazeau. First on his list, the Mercedes G65.
Why an SUV? Because it all about the “just in case” factor of: hauling in-laws, moving a buddy to a new apartment or a jaunt to Lake Tahoe. And since Land Rovers and Range Rovers are so played-out by Hollywood celebs, why not opt for a classic?
Why this SUV? Well, regular richies can have the G63 with its 544 hp twin-turbo V8. Instead, the not-sold-in-America G65 gets four more cylinders and makes an outrageous 612 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque! That’s why.

Snapped as the sun was setting in Northern Sweden, the picture quality isn’t the best. And being February in Northern Sweden, the top is most certainly not down. As for that top, it appears to be a single removable piece, rather than a hard-to-operate material one like on the Murcielago Roadster. It’s likely that the removable section will be made of carbon fiber.
Sharing the same 700-hp 6.5-liter V12 engine as the coupe and a carbon fiber frame, the real question will be if this open-top supercar will be able to avoid the weight gain normally required to stiffen the chassis. If it is, look for a similar 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, although we do expect the top speed to be slightly less than the coupe’s incredible 217 mph rating.

Rumor has it that Lamborghini has the Roadster variant for its new LP700-4 Aventador ready for production. When it actually makes it to the market will depend on Lamborghini, but a respected source notes that it’ll make a debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show – something that doesn’t really come as a surprise.
As with most rumors, not many details were supplied other than the fact that the model is confirmed. One great detail that was also included was the fact that the Aventador Roadster should feature a retractable roof solution much better than the one seen in the Murcielago Roadster. Needless to say, we reckon the Aventador Roadster will be absolutely gorgeous, and with a 700-hp V12 powerplant, it will definitely be one of the best Lambos to date.
