BMW is clearly thinking there is something unique to the Japanese auto market. Recently BMW announced the X6 Performance Unlimited specifically for Japan, and now we’ve caught wind that BMW will be introducing a special 120i model solely in The Land of the Rising Sun.

This 1-series will be powered by a 2.0L inline-four mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, outputting 170-hp. Inside and out the car is adorned with M-Sport pieces including the bumpers, seats, steering wheel, shift knob and pedals. For contrast is a blacked-out grille, carbon fiber mirrors and a carbon fiber spoiler. 18-inch wheels will be standard on the package.

Only 30 of these limited edition units will be produced in either white or blue. It carries a hefty price tag though for a 1-series at $50,300. Something tells us it won’t develop a fan following Stateside as so many other JDM-only models have, but it’s sure to be a hit in Japan, combining an environmentally conscious 4-cylinder with plenty of style.
