With its staple widebody styling that has made the Black Series recognizable worldwide, the C63 AMG blended performance in a stylish coupe body packing an AMG 6.2-liter V8 with 517-hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. Backed up with tuned suspension and superior braking performance, it’s undoubtedly one of the best vehicles out of AMG’s factory.
So what could make it even better? A matte black finish of course. As much as we thought the whole matte black thing would die out, it has become a stylish option for the right cars and it makes the C63 AMG Black Series perfect.
The matte black variant of the C63 AMG Black Series is dubbed UK Edition, and it appears that it’ll only be available out in the UK. But that shouldn’t stop enthusiasts and owners from giving their C63 AMG Black Series its own matte black treatment. We’d love to see a couple of these roaming around our streets.

Saint-Tropez is a small town located just east of Marseille on the French Riviera and is often known for its beaches and a regatta event held every year that draws some of the world’s finest luxury yachts to its bay. In other words, it’s a little resort town that attracts some of the world’s wealthiest tourists and as a result, travelers within Europe often times show off really fancy cars.
Spotted recently in Saint-Tropez is this Bugatti Veyron sporting a matte black and blue finish. While it’s not as flashy as this chrome red Veyron, it’s pretty wild none the less. The beautiful Veyron was spotted outside Hotel La Reserve, where the AutoGuide staff always stays when we’re vacationing in Saint-Tropez. (We wish).

BMW is now offering the very rare 2011 Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe. Like last year’s 15-minute sell out matte-finish M3, only 20 of these will be made, making them very desirable.
This M3 will come with a full factory warranty(unlike last years color) and BMW says it will provide buyers with instructions on how to care for the unique paint shade because matte finishes require special treatment.
The BMW will come equipped with 19-inch M3 GTS rims wrapped in high-performance summer tires, red brake calipers and various gloss black exterior accents. The interior will receive black Novillo leather with red stitching throughout. The car will also get the M-DCT transmission, the Competition Package, Premium Package 2, and navigation.
BMW will be keeping one of the 20 for its collection, so 19 will be available to the public. BMW will open sales for the car on June 16 at 11:30 a.m Eastern, and can be reached at 1-800-245-4269.
The M3 will cost $79,650 and delivery will be arranged at the buyer’s chosen dealership.

Chrysler set its Mopar division on the Fiat 500 for the 2011 Detroit Auto Show and the Italian runabout emerged with a matte black makeover and a number of other upgrades.
Double blue stripes stand out sharply against the black paint while chrome accents provide some added flair.
Other accessories include gloss black wheels, a strut tower brace, and a carbon fiber ‘style’ shift knob and e-brake, while the Katzkin leather seats are also black with blue stitching.
With the Fiat 500 set to hit dealers soon, there’s little doubt a long list of in-house ‘aftermarket’ accessories will be offered. The Mopar goodies aren’t bad, but in the future Fiat will bring some well-rounded performance versions of the hatch from it’s Abarth tuning division.

In case you can’t tell, all you have to do is take an exotic (or luxury) car, wrap it in matte black and the internet will immediately go nuts about it. There’s just something so sinister and so menacing when you go and take a car like the Audi R8 and rewrap the entire car in a matte black finish, pair it up with matte black wheels and sprinkle in some carbon fiber body pieces.
As much as we like to think one day we’ll get sick and tired of this matte black craze, we wholeheartedly believe it’s here to stay and is part of the style and culture in car customization. And honestly, there’s just no denying what a nice matte-colored wrap does to a car’s aesthetics. But enough about the flat black style, this R8 from SR Auto Group has been dubbed Project Pur R8 Phantom and sports some subtle, yet sleek mods.
Breaking up the dark exterior is a set of bright red brake calipers that contrasts the matte black 20-inch wheels. Carbon fiber goods are in the form of front lip and rear spoiler, both from Hofele. PPI contributes with their carbon fiber rear vents and front grill.
As for performance, SR Auto Group is offering H&R lowering springs (pretty run-of-the-mill) and ECU tuning. No horsepower figures on the ECU retune though.

We’ll be honest, we thought this whole matte black car craze would die out sooner than it has. We’re getting tired of seeing yet another poorly-done flat black car, but damn if this Infiniti G37 sedan doesn’t just look incredible. With the facelift on the new G37 sedan, we’ve been anticipating what the aftermarket would do with its new, more aggressive lines and this entry is everything we’ve been dreaming of.
Based out of Japan, Access Evolution decked out this sedan with products from their Exclusive Sport line. The matte black makes it a very aggressive VIP style rather than the sleek gloss black that’s normally related to the traditional “bad ass” VIP style. It’s amazing how simply making the car matte black instead of glossy black makes it sporty rather than luxurious.
The unique wheels are from Forgiato and really not our tastes, but they’re definitely unique and make the car stand out even more. The open wheel design really shows off the bright green Access Evolution calipers. The brake upgrade on this demo car sports 4-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors which can be had for $3,139.
The body kit itself is part of the Exclusive Sport line of products from Access Evolution that includes a badgeless grille ($805), front carbon fiber lip spoiler ($1,168), and rear carbon fiber trunk spoiler ($615). Overall the car is pretty simple but the combination of all the modifications (most noticeably the flat black finish) really makes the car stand out..

Just when we thought the matte black fad (or style) was starting to fade, TechArt introduces the Porsche Panamera Black Edition to the world. Porsche’s entry to the luxury sedan market has been well received so far, combining Porsche performance with traditional comforts that drivers and passengers are used to seeing in say, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7-Series. TechArt, a Porsche-exclusive tuner, has been merging design with functional technology since 1987.
TechArt’s newest tuning program for the Panamera gives a full car option – the Panamera Black Edition – available for just shy of $300,000 U.S. The base Panamera Turbo gets a complete overhaul inside and out, starting with traditional TechArt-styling with their aerodynamic kit. Accenting the new aesthetics is a set of 22-inch wheels in black and trendy LED daytime running lights. Engine modifications are light, with the Panamera sporting a new exhaust.
The Black Edition-theme continues onto the interior, with black leather and Alcantara seats and TechArt repainting everything possible in the interior to matte black: dash, door panel trim, center console, air vents, cup holders, etc.
For close to $115,000 U.S. over retail pricing (in Germany), the Techart Black Edition carries a real premium price tag. Chances are all the modifications could be had for less, including the paint job, but for those distinguished enough to even consider it, chances are they’ll pay for the convenience to just have it delivered complete and ready to be driven in.
The official press release is available after the jump.

The Ford Focus RS500 debut has been a little interesting, to say the least. Ford had built a new website, teasing the release of the car over several days. They claim however that the website was “hacked” and the official (and enticing) photos of the Ford Focus RS500 were released 48 hours early. Perhaps it was a truly intentional (and brilliant) marketing ploy, but word spread quickly and now it appears the Ford Focus RS500 is already sold out – with a limited run of 500 units – before official pricing has even been announced.
While the Focus wasn’t exactly a hot car on the Stateside, its appeal over in Europe is extraordinary. Claims of the Focus RS selling as a used vehicle for more than its purchase price isn’t unheard of. And with the rarity of the RS500 and its menacing good looks, it’s no surprise that the RS500 already has such great appeal within the UK market, nevermind the rest of Europe. The RS500 also marks the end of the current-gen Ford Focus RS production; so there’s a little bit of a nostalgic factor there.
For those that didn’t keep up with all the “web-hacking” and premature debut of the Focus RS500, the limited-edition vehicle sports 345-hp and 339 ft-lbs of torque, an increase of 45-hp and 14 ft-lbs from a mundane RS. The Matte Black style highlights the exterior with race-inspired red accents on the brake calipers and throughout the interior. And much like Acura’s Integra Type-R, each RS500 sports a numbered plaque on the center console.

The latest in a string of limited edition Mercedes-Benz SL models, the SL550 Nigh Edition is clearly distinguished by it’s sinister matte-black “designo magno black ” paint scheme. Additional exterior highlights include two-tone 19-inch AMG wheels as well as darkened headlights and taillights. Inside, the cockpit of the SL Night Edition gets dark black leather contrasted with plenty of chrome. Newly designed seats are also a art of the package and feature arrow-shaped seams with silver contrasted features.
Just 100 SL550 Night Edition models will be offered in the U.S. starting in early 2010.
Mercedes is expected to launch the SL550 Night Edition at the Detroit Auto Show today and we’ll be sure to bring you plenty of live photos of the sinister new SL.

The Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo has it all. On display at the Mobil 1 booth, the Italian exotic not only sports a matte-black paint job, but it’s what’s under the glass engine cover out back that will really get your attention.
There you will find what Underground Racing has become famous for, a twin-turbo kit. The North Carolina tuner builds each twin-turbo application specifically to the needs wants of the customer, with output ranging from 1,000-hp to 1,500-hp. And don’t think it’s as simple as two big turbos and some shiny metal piping either, the team at UR will tear down and rebuild an engine to ensure maximum performance and longevity, with new cylinder heads, CP Race Pistons, Carrillo billet con rods and lots of other hard core parts.
The result, claims UR, is a 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds, with a quarter mile pass taking just 9.1 seconds at 169 mph! The company also claims a speed of 241 mph in a mile, with a top speed of 257 mph.
Not only was the UR matte-black twin-turbo Gallardo getting respect with a huge draw at the Mobil 1 booth, but according to Jesse Poole at Mobil 1′s PR agency Theory PR, the car was also nominated in the Gran Turismo awards, where the Best of Show car gets digitized and immortalized in an upcoming Gran Turismo video game.

After its world debut just a few weeks ago at the Tokyo Auto Show, today Lexus gave an audience of media and aftermarket tuners the first look on U.S. soil of the its new LFA supercar.
It is undeniably the most expensive Lexus, the company has ever created. The LFA supercar, priced at $375,000 is aimed at raising Lexus from a German imitator to an Italian rival. Aimed at cars like the Ferrari 599, the LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine with 560 PS (552hp) and 354 ft-lbs of torque and thanks to a six-speed sequential transmission and a weight of just 3,263 lbs, the LFA can hit 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and tops out a 202 mph!
Lexus says the V10 engine they have created is both smaller and lighter than most V8 engines. It also uses 10 individual electronic throttle bodies for the best possible throttle response. As the the body of the car it uses carbon fiber, which is joined to the car’s metal pieces in a special process the Japanese automaker has developed.
As rumored, the car does use a carbon fiber cabin structure (often referred to as a monocoque), which is why the vehicle weighs so little. Until now production vehicles with such a setup were limited to even more expensive vehicles, like the upcoming Aston Martin One-77, which is rumored to cost close to $1.7 million.
Inside, the car has plenty of state-of-the-art technology and even has the user-friendly Remote Touch mouse.
Lexus calls the car, “Ultra-responsive and extremely stable even when taken to the edge,” saying that, “the LFA creates a sense of reassurance that opens up a new world of driving emotion, exhilarating the senses to move the driver in more ways than one.” We’ll have to wait until some serious track tests to see if the car performs like it costs.

Contrary to popular reports (our own included) there will be at least one foreign automaker at the Tokyo Auto Show. Lotus has announced its attendance and the British sports car company will unveil what it calls the Exige Scura, a special edition vehicle along the lines of the Exige S 260.
With 260 PS (257hp) the Scura gets a pumped-up version of the supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder motor from the Exige S and is capable of hitting 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph. Other highlights include Ohlins two-way shocks, Eibach springs, launch control and Lotus’s traction control system.
What really sets this model apart, however, is the special Phantom Black paint and high gloss triple striped that run the length of the car. There’s also a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber oil cooler intakes and side scoops and rear spoiler. The wheels also get a special matte-black coating. In total the car weighs 22 lbs less than the standard model.
“The Exige Scura is a stunning vehicle which offers an adrenaline fuelled experience and is a real head-turner,” said Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus Cars. “Our Exige customers choose Lotus because we deliver thrilling performance and dynamic design and this special edition fits the bill on both counts.”
The Exige Scura will be available immediately following the car’s official unveiling at the Tokyo Auto Show on Wednesday and will be offered in Europe, South Korea, Australia, South Africa, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Mansory booth at the Geneva Auto Show was a showcase for four of the tuner’s creations. We already brought you news about the Lineo Vincero Bugatti Veyron, and while that vehicle might be the most obvious, the best looking of the cars is arguably the matte-black Bentley Continental GT.
That deep coat of paint covers the massive body of the Bentley Coupe, which has been modified by Mansory with a modified front fascia, wider front and rear fenders, side skirts, a new rear diffuser and a modified trunk lid with a lip spoiler. The aero kit helps reduce lift on the front of the car and increase downforce on the rear.
Mansory has modified the GT Speed with a retuned ECU and a new air intake system, bumping p0wer to 685hp. As for torque, it is now an impressive 656 ft-lbs at a surprisingly high 6100 rpm. Top speed for the Speed is now rated at 216 mph!
Handling has also been improved thanks to a height-adjustable suspension and new light-weight 21×10.5-inch wheels.

We normally rag on the dozes of different SLR models that the Mercedes/McLaren partnership has come out with but this Brabus model is something else.
Based on a SLR roadster, Brabus has done just some mild work under the hood with new camshafts that bring the power output to 650hp at 6500 rpm. This is enough, says Brabus, to let the SLR accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds. In true Brabus style the SLR has an outrageous top speed – 213 mph to be exact.
Other performance modifications include a self-locking differential.
As for that matte-black body, well, it’s more than just a paint job. This SLR actually features Brabus’s new front lip, which reduces lift on the front axle.
Also shown on this model are a mean set of black Brabus Monoblock IV wheels, measuring 20×9.5-inches up front and 20×11.5-inches in the rear. The tires are 255/30/20 front and 305/25/20 rear.
Brabus might be most famous for it’s high performance engines, but the company is equally qualified at outfitting a car’s interior. This SLR features a quilted stitched leather floor… yes, floor! The interior also features Brabus’s sport steering wheel and plenty of carbon fiber goodies.

Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, the 2009 Scion tC Release Series 5.0 is all “murdered-out” thanks to some sleek black paint and matte-black 18-inch wheels. Those rims do, however, have a little color and feature a red trim around the outside.
This special edition tC (of which only 2,000 will be built) has a TRD (Toyota Racing Development) theme and comes with a long list of TRD performance parts. Red TRD lowering springs help give the tC RS 5.0 a more aggressive stance, and when combined with a red TRD rear sway bar give the sport compact better cornering abilities.
A TRD sport muffler gives the car a sound all its own.
Other exterior highlights include an optional rear lip spoiler (a $285 option) and TRD badging.
Inside, the tC RS 5.0 gets black seats with red accents, a black leather steering wheel with red stitching and TRD floor mats. The car will also feature an individually numbered badge.
The tC RS 5.0 will go on sale in March for 19,300 for the manual transmission and $20,100 fr the automatic – $2,300 over the standard tC.
