With some of the wacky Camaros over at GM’s booth, the Yenko Camaro concept at the OER booth looks rather unassuming – but isn’t that what a Yenko is all about after all? With the Yenko name owned by General Marketing Capital Incorporated (GMCI), the company has decided to resurrect the brand and hopes to begin production of Yenko models once again.

The first step in that process is this car, the Yenko/SC concept. Along with a subtle aero kit and graphics package, the 2010 Yenko Camaro gets a new set of 22-inch SYC wheels, StopTech brakes, a MagnaFlow exhaust, a Hurst shifter and (as the name suggests) a supercharger under the hood.

Yenko marketing director Ray Yager told us that while a lot of folks might be looking for an engine swa (in true Yenko style), the idea for Yenko Camaros was to make an affordable performance car. Needless to say, a GM crate engine is far more expensive than the MagnaCharger blower currently under the hood. And the result is still a very impressive 600-hp.

Yenko hasn’t confirmed if it will start building Camaros again but the company is hopeful and is looking for partners. And what better place to do that than at the SEMA Show.

Those wandering the isles of the SEMA Show next week in Las Vegas probably won’t pay much attention to the red 2009 Chevy Corvette in the Edelbrock booth. But they should.

As the performance-oriented company that it is, Edelbrock’s Corvette won’t have 22-inch diamond-encrusted wheels, or orange paint, or six LCD screens. Nope. In fact, the car will be entirely stock – except where it counts.

Edelbrock will use the SEMA Show to debut a new E-Force supercharger system. This blower is an Eton unit and uses the same rotors as found on the Corvette ZR1.

The E-Force supercharger will be offered for 2008-10 Corvettes in two stages. A stage one setup bring power from 430-hp to 554-hp, along with a healthy dose of torque – 515 ft-lbs to be exact. A stage two package will also include a smaller pulley and an upgraded fuel pump, with an output of 599-hp and 547 ft-lbs of torque.

Edelbrock promises ZR1-like acceleration without the price tag.

Be sure to check back on November 3rd for AutoGuide’s complete SEMA Show coverage.

After building up a reputation as a top level Corvette tuner, Lingenfelter engineering is taking what they know about the Chevy sports car and adapting it to the bowtie brand’s newest performance machine, the Camaro. Set to be unveiled at the 2009 SEMA Show in just a few weeks, Lingenfelter has taken a Camaro SS and tossed the car’s factory 426-hp 6.2-liter V8 in favor of the Corvette Z06′s 505-hp 7.0-liter LS7 engine. And that’s not all. Known for their expertise in forced induction, the boys at Lingenfelter have then gone and strapped a supercharger to the big 427 to make no less than 750-hp.

The engine has even been built up to take all the extra boost with JE Pistons, titanium intake valves and Iconel exhaust valves – the same material used for making Formula One exhaust systems.

For the build Lingenfelter teamed up wit the suspension experts at Hotchkis for what they call a, “Total Vehicle System,” complete with springs, sway bars and a subframe brace – which is sure to be needed with 750-hp and (we imagine) an equal amount of torque. The shocks are a Lingenfelter/Sachs combo. On to of these addition, there’s a big set of Brembo bakes, big 20-inch Pirelli tires on LPE wheels and a pretty wild aero kit complete wit carbon fiber additions.

“Over the years we have been involved in dozens of OEM and racing development programs, but this one is special,” said Hotchkis Performance president John Hotchkis. “Lingenfelter builds some of the fastest, coolest and most refined domestic supercars in the world, and the fact that they asked us to help develop the suspension for a 200 mph Camaro and then offered to debut the car in our booth is very exciting. Everyone in attendance will certainly be impressed with this stunning piece of high-performance engineering.”

We’ll be sure to bring you plenty of photos of the Lingenfelter Camaro with live coverage of the 2009 SEMA Show starting November 3rd.

No Doubt you’ve never heard of General Marketing Capital Incorporated (GMCI), but if you’re a lover of classic American muscle, or modern American muscle, you’re about to become more familiar with the company. The reason? GMCI has just announced that it has purchased the Yenko name and brand and has announced plans to bring it back from the dead – which is good timing considering the tremendous popularity of the new Camaro.

The Yenko name has become synonymous with performance ever since Don Yenko, owner of Yenko Chevrolet, first dropped a Corvette 427 cu.-in. V8 under the hood of a Camaro back in 1967.

“The muscle car era has made a huge comeback this year and we expect this trend to grow,” said company owner Jeff Leonard. “The Yenko name is very much a part of that magnificent history and we plan to resurge its magic and its historical significance. Through GMCI’s efforts, Don Yenko’s name will be kept alive with the highest degree of integrity and respect.”

Normally we might worry about someone buying a good name like the Yenko one and running it into the ground with scissor doors and neon lights, but Leonard seems to have the right approach and is a genuine enthusiast as well as a business man. He even owned an original ’68 Yenko Camaro.

We’ll have to wait and see what GMCI has planned, but we’re hoping for some nice ZR1 goodies!
