Pebble Beach Concours dElegance 2011 08.JPG

In case you missed last week’s coverage of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, we’ve created a video hub for all of our coverage from the week’s festivities. It’s not just historic models either, with plenty of other events being held simultaneously in Monterey, CA that week; not to mention several new car unveilings.

Along with the exotics at Concorso Italiano, new vehicles revealed include the 2013 Lexus GS350, the Infiniti JX Concept, the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept, Cadillac Ciel Concept and the first North American showing of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato.

McLaren unveiled a customized MP4-12C at Pebble Beach, indicating the British automaker will offer a long line of individual options for customers. This particular McLaren features a host of new upgrades and modifications put together by the British automaker, most notable of which are the Satin Orange paint and aggressive new fenders. There are also carbon fiber bits all over the car including a windshield cowl, engine cover gilles along the outside of the glass, and a new carbon rear exhaust cover. The rims have a polished face with black painted centers and the roof panel has also been painted black. Standard options of the 12C include carbon mirrors, a carbon lower front spoiler and rear valence as well as a stealth package which blacks out the exhaust tips and wing supports.

Built on the chassis of an early validation prototype, this isn’t a oroduction car but merely a glimpse at what sort of custom options McLaren will be offering in the future to owners.

Priced at $229,000 for a standard model, the upgrades raise the asking price for this MP4-12C to around $270,000.

Shelby Supercars Tuatara 01.JPG

Amid all the historic autos on display at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Concept Lawn is a look at modern works of vehicular art – not all of them concepts either.

Vehicles on display at this year’s event included the the Infiniti Etheria concept, the SSC Tuatara concept and the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept. The SSC car represents the next generation of the Ultimate Aero and will look to take back the title of the world’s fastest production car from Bugatti. As for the Lotus, it’s essentially a look at a possible street-legal track machine, merging the Evora road car and the GTE Le Mans race car together. Yet another concept was the Lexus LF-Gh – a design study that lead to the Pebble Beach reveal of the new 2013 Lexus GS350.

Other highlights included a rolling chassis of the new Lamborghini Aventador, as well as the Jaguar C-X75 concept. See all these, and even more in the video after the jump:

MINI Goodwood 04.JPG

Take the new MINI Cooper Goodwood to any other car show and its price tag will send potential customers running, but not at Pebble Beach. With some of the wealthiest people in the world on hand to check out the historic automobiles, you’re likely to find that the MINI’s $52,000 sticker isn’t far off what the attendees would drop on a watch.

Just 1,000 of these rare machines will be produced, with 140 earmarked for the U.S., sporting Rolls-Royce goodies like burr walnut veneer. Other highlights include a custom Lounge Leather, lambswood floor mats (that look far worse in person that we had ever imagined) and a cashmere headliner. Outside, the car comes in a Diamond Black metallic color (formerly exclusive to Rolls-Royce) and 17-inch multi-spoke light alloy rims.

The Goodwood model comes with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine from the 2011 MINI Cooper S producing 181-hp.

Deliveries are scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2012.

BMW 328 Homage 03.JPG

First unveiled at the ‘other’ concours (Ville d’Este), the BMW 328 Homage concept made an appearance at Pebble Beach along side its muse. Taking the finest details of the 1930′s race car and applying them to an ultra-modern design concept, the 328 Homage weighs just 1,700 lbs thanks to an extensive use of carbon fiber.

Key similarities between the two vehicles include the elongated BMW grille and the dish wheels, while the Homage has a notable absence of doors, much like the original 328 race car.

Like the new M5, BMW has promised an official world premiere for the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, however, both cars have made the trip to Pebble Beach.

Scion FR-S Pebble Beach 06.JPG

A Scion is about the last car you’d expect to see at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, but the FR-S concept has a design worthy of a six-, or even a seven-figure price tag.

Set to be unveiled as a Toyota model at the Tokyo Auto Show later this year, the production FR-S is then expected to be revealed at the NY Auto Show in 2012. Toyota has continued to be nearly silent on details, but what we do know is that this light-weight coupe will be powered by a Subaru-sourced boxer 4-cylinder engine, using a Toyota direct-injection system. Power will be delivered though the rear wheels using either a six-speed auto or manual (your choice) and a limited slip differential will be standard.

2012 BMW M5 01.JPG

It’s perhaps the only automotive venue in the world where the new BMW M5 won’t get the attention it deserves. Then again, it’s hard to compete with the 100 year old rolling sculptures on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Eelgance.

Debuting at the Nurburgring 24 Hour Race, the new M5 is scheduled to get its official world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but it’s made the trip across the Atlantic, and all the way to the West Coast of California first. Surprise!

On display next to the “Concept Lawn”, this is the first North American showing for what promises to be the most amazing performance sedan the world has ever seen. Powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 it makes an incredible 552-hp, with 502 lb-ft of torque available at just 1500 rpm. Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission the M5 delivers a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and can hit 190-mph with an optional M package.

New “green” tech features include an auto start-stop function, as well as a Brake Energy Regeneration system that help to cut fuel consumption by as much as 30 percent.

Lamborghini Aventador Chassis 02.JPG

Sitting in stark contrast to the heritage machines on display on the 18th fairway at the Pebble Beach Concours are the assembled exotics on the “Concept Lawn”. The best example of this is the Lamborghini Aventador, which is joined by a rolling chassis of the 700-hp Italian exotic, displaying the ultra-modern technology that makes it such an incredible performance machine.

Car geeks can revel in the carbon fiber monocoque, joined at the front and rear by a complex and light weight aluminum chassis. This structure allows the car to weigh in at just under 3,500 lbs, despite a truly massive 6.5-liter V12 engine out back.

Also on display is the pushrod suspension setup, with Lambroghini claiming the Aventador is the first production car to make use of this design, which has until now been reserved for race cars.

Infiniti JX Concept 12.JPG

With a focus on functionality, innovation and safety, Infiniti has revealed its new JX crossover in Monterey as part of the week-long Pebble Beach festivities. Targeted at well-heeled families, the JX is just a concept for now, although Infiniti is promising this vehicle is nearly identical to the production version that will be revealed at the LA Auto Show in November.

Notable highlights include a 7-seater, three-row arrangement, with second row seats that can move forward and back by as much as 5.5-inches. In addition, the second row splits and folds, allowing for a child seat in the second row, while retaining access to the third row. On the safety side, the JX gets a Backup Collision Intervention system that not only detects if you are about to reverse into something, but will actually apply the brakes in order to stop the vehicle.

Power will come from a V6 engine (presumably the brand’s 3.7-liter unit), while the JX will be offered as either front- or all-wheel drive. Of note, the JX will not get Infiniti’s 7-speed automatic transmission, but rather a newly developed CVT unit.
