In an effort to drum up interest in its first completely new model in years, Land Rover is dispatching 10 Range Rover Evoque models to major cities in key markets. Included on the list are London, New York, Sao Paulo, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Berlin, Sydney, Shanghai and Moscow.
But this is more than just a bit of clever marketing, all 10 cars are actually prototype models and so Land Rover will use them (along with hundreds of others) to complete final testing on its new model, with 17,000 tests being performed on all aspects of the car.
“The development stage is crucial in the year leading up to launching the car,” said Murray Dietsch, director of Land Rover. “No stone is left unturned; we have a team of experienced and skilled engineers who will work to a tight schedule to ensure we have a top quality vehicle to offer our customers.”
Land Rover promises that the Evoque will be the lightest and most efficient Range Rover to date. It is set to launch in 2011 as a 2012 model year vehicle.
