We’ve seen a lot of resto-mod projects, but this one may be the finest one yet. Starting with one of the most timeless body styles ever, a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster, the restoration project involved giving it a new-generation Corvette LT1 powerplant and suspension on a custom frame. The result is a 300-hp classic featuring a pristine body, immaculate leather interior and a rad set of 18-inch Intro wheels that fit the classic design quite well.

The transformation began by un-bolting the car from its frame and having it sodium-blasted to remove all its factory defects, not to mention the wear-and-tear from over 50 years of existence. From there, the entire body was restored to a silky smooth finish prior to being bolted to a custom round tube frame. It then received a custom Spectrum Color-developed turquoise with traditional white coves giving it a classic-car appearance.

Then a custom frame was built to house the new powertrain, featuring a modern Corvette LT1 Generation II 350 motor with a cast-iron block and aluminum heads. The color-matched LT1 plastic engine cover is a subtle but fantastic touch to show off the engine.

On the inside, genuine leather adorns the cabin with a color-matched scheme. Replacing the age-old steering wheel is an aluminum counterpart from Grant while a Lokar transmission shifter takes center stage.

The classic is currently for sale at $119,900 which seems like a bargain given the three years of hard work put into restoring the project and its estimated cost of over $200,000.

One of the most loved classic cars from the 1960′s is the MGB. It allows you to get a taste of old world British motoring without the price tag of a good Jaguar E-type or the Aston Martin DB5.

Now a British tuning shop by the name of Frontline wants to bring you the old with a some new technology, so you can enjoy your classic on the road, rather than it steaming on the hard shoulder.

Frontline will be dumping the miserable, old four-cylinder of the original MGB, and replacing it with a much more modern and reliable, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine from the Mazda MX-5.

Thanks to new con-rods, crankshafts and pistons, this motor will be able to produce 240 hp. Since the car is expected to weight just under 2000 lbs. it should be plenty quick.

It should handle better than the original also, since the old suspension bits are axed and replaced with new telescopic dampers and coilovers. Just to ensure this classic still has that classic feel, the car retains its live-axle set-up, and just like the original, it won’t have any power steering either.

All sounds very good then, until you get to the price. Frontline will be asking around $80,000 for each example, and you won’t be able to enjoy it until next year anyway. But since each car will use a new British Motor Heritage MGB shell, it’s like getting a new car, rather than a refurbished old one.

None have been completed so far, hence we had to use a file photo. Hopefully we get to see what this company can really do before forking out the cash.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating Classic Recreations LLC for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activity relating to swapping VIN numbers on their rebuilt G.T.500CR Mustangs, which were endorsed by Shelby American.

According to local media reports, the company took VINs from junked Mustangs and applied them to their GT.500CRs, and sold them as new cars for between $150,000 and $200,000.

“They were presenting them as original Mustangs, when in fact, they were not,” said OSBI agent Gary Perkinson. “We’re looking at removing VIN numbers from vehicles, which is a crime. Then you’re looking at potential fraud.”

Anyone who has purchased a car from Classic Recreations should contact the OSBI immediately.
