Scion FR-S owners in search of more power may have rejoiced when they heard TRD was planning a supercharger for the car, but they’re not going to be so excited once they find out what it costs.
The FR-S surprised me with its winter weather capability. When equipped with snow-tires, the little Scion sports car managed to keep me from getting stuck or stranded.
But there’s more to talk about with the car’s performance in the winter than just its tires. I can happily report that there haven’t been any significant concerns, but there are some things to get used to.
In the warm weather there’s no doubt that the Scion FR-S is a great daily driver, but now in the colder winter, is that fact still true? Will the car be as fun in the snow? Or will it be too much fun; a dangerous handful with little-to-no control in slippery conditions? With the snow finally here, I got the chance to find out.

Thankfully, there have been some updates in regards to a pair of nagging issues with the FR-S – though no solid solutions.

By now you’ve probably heard of every single great thing about the FR-S, like how it has impeccable balance, superior driving feel and stunning value at $25k, but what about the thoughts of an honest-to-goodness owner. Make no mistake, I love this car, but it’s not perfect.
Daily driving has brought to light ten major flaws with the car, from comfort to convenience. Maybe in a few years when the FR-S is updated and includes some updates, I can look back and credit myself for bringing the perfect car to fruition. In the mean time I’ll just complain, like a stuck up automotive journalist.

What if I was all wrong? I ask myself this very question every time someone asks me why I got my Scion instead of the Subaru. This past week I got the chance to do it all over again with the exact opposite choices I made with my own car.
