Nissan displayed the Stillen GT-R at its exhibit at the 2010 Canadian International Auto Show.

Built in 2009 by Steve Millen and the rest of the Stillen team, the one-off GT-R competed at the Targa Newfoundland race.

The Stillen GT-R was clocked a 0-60 run in 2.9 seconds, quicker than the stock version’s 3.5 seconds. The Stillen GT-R ran an 11.0 second quarter mile, registering a speed of 127.9 mph, (compared to the stock version’s 11.7 seconds and 120.4 mph) and reached a speed of 130 mph in 11.4 seconds (compared to the stock version’s 14.0 seconds.

Millen and his crew will next enter the GT-R at Targa Canada West, May 24 in British Columbia.

Nissan Canada announced it will present the Stillen GT-R at the 2010 Toronto Auto Show.

Race car driver Steve Millen and the Stillen team built their version of the GT-R “Godzilla” in 2009 for the Targa Newfoundland race. The Stillen crew lightened the GT-R by 172 lbs. and tweaked throttle response and suspension.

The result: a 0-60 run of 2.9 seconds and an 11.0-second quarter-mile run at 127.9 mph. Living up to the name “Godzilla”, the Stillen GT-R’s roar registered 101 dBA, compared to the stock GT-R’s 891 dBA.

Nissan and Infiniti will also display their latest models including the new 2011 Infiniti M, the Infiniti Essence Concept and the “Krom” edition Nissan Cube at the 2010 Toronto Auto Show. Check back for AutoGuide.com’s coverage of the Canadian International Auto Show on Feb. 11.

Nissan to display famous Stillen GT-R when show opens in Toronto

Today, Nissan Canada officially announced that, along with its full lineup, it will proudly present the one-of-a-kind Stillen GT-R at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto this February.

This version of the iconic vehicle was created in 2009 when race car driver Steve Millen and his Stillen crew completed a tear-down and build-up of the world-famous sports car, the GT-R (a.k.a. “Godzilla”) for the Targa Newfoundland race.

“Nissan is excited to provide GT-R fans with this special appearance,” said Jeff Parent, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Nissan Canada Inc. “The Stillen crew showed us all just how mean Godzilla can be, so we wanted to give fans a chance to get up close and personal to this great machine.”

Creating a Monster

While many modifications were made, the major changes occurred when the Stillen team put the iconic “Godzilla” on a diet to make it lighter (172-lbs less than the 2010 stock GT-R). They also made modifications for increased throttle response, and made the suspension more adjustable to their needs.

The results were clear – at 3500 rpm, Stillen’s GT-R exploded for a run to 60 mph in an amazing 2.9 sec (vs. 3.5 sec in the stock version). It also completed an 11.0-second quarter mile run at 127.9 mph (vs. the stock GT-R’s 11.7 at 120.4 mph) and then reached 130 mph in 11.4 seconds, (vs. the stock GT-R’s 14.0 seconds). In addition to the increased power and speed, this “Godzilla” even has a louder growl, registering 101 dBA at full fury (vs. 81 dBA for the stock GT-R). The orange and black Stillen GT-R will be on display with additional information at the upcoming Auto Show in Toronto but fans won’t be able to hear its growl again until May 24, 2010 when it competes in the Targa Canada West (TCW) annual motorsport adventure in British Columbia’s southern Interior. With the Targa Newfoundland just two weeks away, Stillen has unleashed its race-ready Nissan GT-R upon the internet.

Prior to the race Stillen took its 620hp monster to the El Toro Marine base for a little performance test organized by Road & Track and the results are more than impressive. The tests revealed a 0-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds, with a 1/4 mile time of 11 seconds flat at 127.9 mph! Don’t believe us? Watch the video below.

Along with a host of performance adders, like a Turbosmart boost controller and a Stillen exhaust setup, the Stillen GT-R also received a set of AP Racing brakes, Eibach springs and several other Stillen suspension bits. Stillen even set about manufacturing a polyurethane body kit and then contracted Password JDM for a long list of carbon fiber panels. Those panels, along with a stripped-out interior, mean the Stilen GT-R weighs significantly less than stock.

Several months ago world renowned racer Steve Millen announced his intentions to race in the Targa Newfoundland road rally in a Nissan GT-R prepped by his own tuner shop – Stillen.

Now Stillen has announced that it is running a contest, the winner of which will receive an all expenses paid round trip for two to watch Steve and his GT-R in action over the course of seven days and six nights on “the extreme edge of North America.”

This year’s Targa Newfoundland takes place from September 12th through 19th and covers 1,367-miles (2,200 kilometers) of roads. Each year more than 175,000 spectators come to watch the race.

For the past several years Steve Millen has competed in the New Zealand Dunlop Targa Rally in a Stillen modified Ford GT, but for 2009 the legendary race car driver will travel to the Canadian province of Newfoundland in a Nissan GT-R.

Stillen has just announced plans to enter the 6-day 1,400 mile Targa Newfoundland rally, held on the winding public (but closed for the rally) roads of Newfoundland and has already begun work on modifying its GT-R.

The company says they plan to keep some of the modifications secret but they have released some details. For starters the car will be significantly lighter and the while most of the interior will be removed, racing seats will be installed and many of the body panels will be replaced with lighter carbon fiber parts. In terms of the suspension, Stillen plans on upgrading the shocks and even using adjustable sway bars so they can change the dynamics of the car depending on the roads. An upgraded brake package from AP Racing will also be installed.

Finally, Stillen intends to increase the power of the GT-R with a new performance exhaust, ECU tuning and upgraded intercoolers.

Held for the past 7 years the Targa Newfoundland continues to grow as it provides the sort of on-road thrills that are normally either illegal or tend to happen in other parts of the world.
