Volvo plans on debuting a new concept car at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show to promote its new four-cylinder engine lineup. The concept car will be sporting the name “You”, with Volvo releasing a short teaser video. The video doesn’t give away too much of the concept car, but highlights some of its finer features as we see waxed wood veneer, gray shag-pile carpet and square plastic gauge clusters in the video.
Volvo’s goal with its new line of four-cylinder lineup is to prove that downsized engines can still go hand-in-hand with consumer’s demands of luxury and driving pleasure. This new engine range will be part of the new Volvo Environmental Architecture (VEA) which will include both gasoline and diesel engines.
Volvo will also announce its Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) at Frankfurt for its future models. The new SPA will give new model Volvos a lighter weight – saving anywhere from 220- to 440-lbs from their current architecture. Lastly, we expect Volvo to reveal more details about its Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) at Frankfurt.
Check out the video on the Concept You after the break.
