Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years, you know all about the hard knocks the automotive industry has been dealt. But Chrysler dealers are seeing a boost thanks to women who have given them some much-needed props.
A recent survey conducted by Women-Drivers.com has ranked Jeep dealers in the number two spot overall in its semi-annual report of Top Auto Brands as rated by women’s dealership reviews. The domestic Chrysler brand came in just behind the number one ranked Mercedes dealers and ahead of Lexus and BMW dealers, who come in at three and four respectively.
And there’s even more good news for Chrysler brand dealers – they also came in at number five, while Dodge dealers came in at nine. Buick was the only GM brand whose dealers were in the top 10 (Buick took the number eight spot).
The results were based on scores given by survey respondents regarding their dealership experience during vehicle purchase, as well as the car browsing process and vehicle service experience. The dealerships were rated and scored in each category and given an overall score.
More than half of women who are in the market for a new car visit three or more dealerships during the process, says Anne Fleming, president of Women-Drivers.com. A woman’s browsing experience determines where she will buy, she adds.
“No one captures the browsing information; even in CSI, browsing isn’t scored,” Fleming says. “If she has a great browsing experience, she’s going to come back. If she doesn’t, she’s gone.”

It’s all about the ladies in Michigan. That’s because Meade Lexus has teamed up with AskPatty.com to address the needs of women consumers. Now part of the Certified Female Friendly Dealers, Meade Lexus has ensured that all their team members have completed a training and certification process to provide a Certified Female Friendly experience that exceeds women’s expectations.
Meade Lexus is the first Michigan dealership to offer these services. “We know there is always room to improve, and when we learned of this opportunity to enhance the Lexus experience for our female customers, we jumped right in,” says Ken Meade, owner of Meade Lexus. “No less than a few hours after one of our sales associates completed the training, he was told by a female customer he was the best salesperson she ever dealt with—that’s what we’re striving for.”
In order to become AskPatty.com Certified Female Friendly, the Meade Lexus employees had to complete an extensive training program on how to best serve women. They also have to take part in year-round instruction to enhance their awareness, appreciation, and commitment to a female-friendly service experience. The result of this training is meant to build lasting relationships with women.
“Women influence 85% of the buying decisions in North American households, effectively becoming the family’s chief purchasing officer,” says Jody DeVere, CEO of AskPatty.com, Inc. “AskPatty trains and certifies automotive businesses on how to communicate more effectively with women and ensure they feel safe, respected, and empowered, which creates tremendous customer loyalty. Meade Lexus’ commitment to women shows that management is serious about earning their business.”
Also in conjunction with AskPatty.com, Meade Lexus has launched a female-focused micro-site that provides the tools and resources. Here, you can schedule service appointments, access coupons and discounts, and learn more about car buying and maintenance online.
