2011 Maserati Cars
Maserati’s GranTurismo , GranCabrio and Quattroporte have enjoyed strong popularity among the wealthy as exotic alternatives to German and British rivals. Despite historically poor reliability and a lengthy absence from the U.S. market, their two-door GranTurismo, GranTurismo Convertible (GranCabrio) and four-door Quattroporte have been successful, and the brand will introduce their Kubang SUV in 2013. Maserati benefits from strong technical partnerships with both Ferrari and parent company Fiat.
After changing hands from the Maserati family to owners like Citroen and DeTomaso, Maserati was purchased by Fiat in 1993. The brand launched their 3200GT in 1998, which was the forerunner of today’s GranTurismo, and the vehicle marked a turning point for the brand. Considered a more prestigious alternative to German and British sports cars, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio have established themselves as proper rivals to the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin Vantage, while the Quattroporte has successfully battled the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series and Porsche Panamera in the luxury sedan segment.
