2011 Dodge Cars

The volume brand under the Chrysler umbrella, Dodge saw its product offerings cut during the great recession, but continues to offer eight vehicles including the return to the brand’s lineup of the Durango SUV. Post bankruptcy, restyling efforts were made for all models including the Challenger, Avenger, Caliber, Grand Caravan, Journey and, to a lesser extend, the Nitro. To help reduce costs Dodge opted to drop many of its V6 offerings in favor of a newly developed Pentastar V6. An all-new Charger has also joined the lineup. In addition, Dodge continues to offer high-performance models through its SRT (Street and Racing technology) division. Axed in 2012, Dodge has promised a return of the Viper in 2013.

After its 2009 reorganization, Dodge’s truck brand, including the 1500 pickup truck, Heavy Duty models and the Dakota mid-size pickup, was spun-off into the Ram truck brand.

Initially a parts supplier, Dodge began manufacturing its own vehicles in 1915. In 1928 Chrysler took over control of the company and it has remained under the Chrysler umbrella since, including the merger and then acquisition by Daimler, followed by bankruptcy and then control by Fiat.
