2011 Maybach 62S Overview

Every Maybach is built to the buyer's specifications, and the options and customizations are seemingly endless. There are four models: two short-wheelbase versions, and two long-wheelbase versions. The 57 measures 5.7 meters (225 inches) and the 62 measures 6.2 meters (243 inches). The base models feature a 5.5L V12 twin turbo engine that makes 543 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The 57S and 62S upgrade that engine to a 6.0L V12 twin turbo producing 620 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. All of these configurations are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

2011 sees a styling redesign for both the 57 and 62, with new bumpers and sheetmetal fitted front and rear giving both models an updated look and feel. All models get new 20-inch 12-spoke alloy wheels.

Maybachs utilize an electrohydraulic brake system, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes and Parktronic parking assist. The Maybachs also feature a passive safety system to assess the severity of a crash and then determine the most appropriate response. Airbags are fitted all around, and the reclining seats optional in the 57 and standard in the 62 have crash-responsive seatbacks.

Climate control is automatic, with separate systems for front and rear. Seats are heated and upholstered in Grand Nappa leather. A 21-speaker Bose system is standard, as are the rear refrigerator, window curtains and champagne flutes. Now standard for 2011 is a wireless internet system for rear passengers and a 19-inch flatscreen mounted on the center divider.

Optional features for the 57 and 62 include electronic rear door closers, electronic sliding curtains for the rear seats, and solar-powered cabin ventilation. The 57S options go further: leather CD bag, dust cover with Maybach logo, sunroof, heated steering wheel, voice-operated control system in your choice of languages and a pennant holder and staff. The 62S has even more options, like a tissue dispenser in the console, curtains for the back window, retractable partition between rear passengers and driver, makeup mirror, panoramic glass sunroof with solar module, electro-transparent roof panel and a reversing camera. Also available is the 62S Landaulet, which offers rear passengers the option of lowering the roof, while the driver stays under cover.

2011 Maybach 62S Model Changes

2011 sees several changes made to the Maybach 57 and 62 line, including a new front and rear fascia design, a redesigned hood, a new front bumper, new side mirrors, a chrome grille and revised taillights. New wheels are standard for both standard and S models, and inside, wireless internet is now available for rear seat passengers. A 19-inch flatscreen monitor has also been added. The reclining rear seats previously available only on the 62 are now available on the 57, and the 62 is now offered with a electro-transparent roof panel that can turn from clear to opaque at the flip of a switch. A 62S Landaulet version is also available, which features a fixed roof over the driver and a convertible top over the rear passengers. All S models receive a boost in power to 620 hp.

2011 Maybach 62S Value

Maybach is all about extraordinary luxury, and the 57 and 62 are at the top of their class when it comes to both opulence and standard features. The base 57 and 62 have V12 5.5L twin-turbo engines, and the S models get a 6.0L version of that engine. In either case, the chauffeur can pilot a Maybach from 0-60 in less than 6 seconds. Folding tables and fabric window curtains are the kinds of standard equipment a Maybach owner can expect for his or her money. Both the 57 and 62 are well-placed against competition from Bentley and Rolls-Royce-- Maybach piles on more luxury and opulent performance than anyone else.
