2012 MINI Cars
The MINI Cooper might be the UK’s most iconic export, but the MINI brand is currently owned by German luxury car maker BMW. With their Cooper, Clubman and Countryman small cars, MINI offers three distinct premium compact cars, with the Countryman offering four doors and all-wheel drive. MINI will also be launching their new Coupe sports car in late 2011.
MINI re-introduced their vehicles in the United States in 2002 after a decades long absence, and received a warm reception from consumers and critics alike. A more powerful Cooper S was also available, followed by a convertible in 2005. An extended length version, dubbed the Clubman arrived in 2008. A four-door version, known as the Countryman, arrived in late 2010 offering a more practical alternative, and all-wheel drive. 2011 marks the arrival of the MINI Coupe, a low-slung, sloping-roofed MINI aimed at cars like the Audi TT. All variants except the Countryman are available with the 181-horsepower turbocharged Cooper S drivetrain, and some models can be outfitted with a John Cooper Works performance package that boosts output to 208 horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque.
