2012 Scion tC Overview

The 2012 Scion tC comes in two trim levels from the factory, base trim and a new-for-2012 "Release Series 7.0" trim. Buyers can choose to equip it with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission.

Power for all tCs comes from a new 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with dual variable valve timing. The unit produces 180 hp and 173 lb-feet of torque, making plenty of power at the first stomp of the gas.

The tC benefits from MacPherson front, while the rear utilizes an independent double-wishbone system. Steering is quick thanks to electronically assisted rack-and-pinion power steering.

Standard features include power mirrors, windows and locks, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, sport seats, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, keyless entry, panoramic power moonroof and an 8-speaker Pioneer audio system with USB port and iPod connectivity.

The Release Series 7.0 tC adds on a unique body kit, a honeycomb grille, an 18-inch alloy wheels and proximity keyless entry.

The options list is extensive, and includes body graphics, rear spoiler, fog lights, door sill accents, Bluetooth, remote start, TRD performance accessories, Alpine premium audio, navigation and XM satellite radio.

Safety is paramount in the tC, with advanced front airbags, front side-mount airbags, front and rear side airbags, active headrests front and rear, a first aid kit and a tire pressure monitoring system.

2012 Scion tC Model Changes

The Scion tC hatchback coupe was completely redesigned for 2011, and carries into 2012 with only a few changes.
