2012 Toyota Venza Overview
For 2012, Toyota revised the Venza's trim lineup to make it more like the automaker's other cars. There are now LE, XLE and Limited trims, two engines and two drivetrains available. The 2.7L 4-cylinder engine makes 182 hp and 182 lb-feet of torque. It's available on the LE and XLE trims and with both front-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains. The 3.5L makes 268 hp and 246 lb-ft of torque. It comes on LE, XLE and Limited trims in both drivetrain options. A 6-speed automatic transmission is the only one available across the lineup.
The LE trim comes well equipped regardless of the engine, with 19-inch wheels, power-adjustable front seats, remote keyless entry, anti-lock brakes and a solid list of safety features. A power liftgate and rearview monitor can be added, as can a power tilt/slide panoramic sunroof.
The XLE adds the power liftgate as standard equipment, leather heated seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a push-button start system Toyota calls Smart Key and woodgrain interior trim. A Premium package adds a JBL stereo with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity and a panoramic sunroof. Navigation is also available that also includes a rearview monitor and the JBL premium stereo.
The Limited trim, only available with the V6 and all-wheel drive adds as standard equipment, HID headlamps, navigation, heated seats and a panoramic sunroof.
The Venza's ride comes from a very car-like independent MacPherson strut suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars. Electric power steering and vented disc brakes are also included. The Venza has a certain SUV feel to it as well, including a higher ride height, a rear wiper and plenty of interior room as well as 30 cubic feet of cargo space--68 cubic feet with the rear seats down. The Venza also offers a solid 3500-pound towing capacity.
2012 Toyota Venza Model Changes
The 2012 Venza revamps their trim lineup pretty extensively. This year, there are LE, XLE and Limited trims as well as two powertrains and front wheel and all-wheel drive options as well. The base level Venza's equipment and price point stay about the same, however.
2012 Toyota Venza Value
With three trim levels for 2012, the Venza offers a wide range of possibilities. The Venza successfully combines the comfort and refinement of the Camry with the cargo-carrying capacity of a wagon. The all-wheel drive option means the Venza is sure-footed in any situation. The base engine earns a 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway rating from the EPA, while even the all-wheel drive with a V6 gets 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway.
