2012 Volkswagen CC Overview
The CC has two available engines: a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder, available in the Sport, R-Line and Luxury models, makes 200 hp and has 207 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L 6-cylinder available in the 4Motion ups that power output to 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. While all models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic, only the Sport and R-Line can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 4Motion with the V6 engine turns in the best 0-60 mph time, at 6.2 seconds. All four models share anti-lock brakes with anti-slip regulation, power-assisted front vented disc brakes and fully independent sport suspension with MacPherson struts. Traction control, electronic stabilization, front and side curtain airbags and thorax air bags for the front seats are standard. Side thorax air bags for the rear passengers are optional.
The Sport may be the entry-level CC, but it still comes with air conditioning, Bluetooth, heated front seats, cruise control and a touch-screen radio with a 6-CD in-dash changer, eight speakers and MP3 capability. The Lux model adds power and heated mirrors, sunroof, dual-zone air conditioning, leather sport seats and the Parking Distance Control system as standard equipment. New for 2012 is the Lux Plus, offering all of the Lux features as well as interior ambient lighting, Homelink, power sunroof, wood interior trim and navigation. The Lux Limited, also new this year, takes the Lux Plus package and adds 18-inch wheels and Bi-Xenon HID headlamps.
The 4Motion is very similar to the Luxury model but for the more powerful engine and all-wheel drive. It features special 18-inch wheels, a multi-function steering wheel, a premium 10-speaker sound system and HID xenon headlamps.
2012 Volkswagen CC Model Changes
For 2012, the CC gets several interior updates, as well as a few new trim levels. Joining Sport, R-Line, Executive and Lux are Lux Plus and Lux Limited, both of which offer slightly different feature configurations. In addition, several interior modifications have been made, including the addition of a small analog clock to the dash, revised wood trim and a standard electronic brake switch moved to the center console.
2012 Volkswagen CC Value
With great understated styling and upscale standard features such as heated front seats and rain-sensing windshield wipers even on the base Sport model, the latest sport sedan from Volkswagen is positioned to fight well-known European luxury brands like BMW's 3-Series.
