Chevrolet Malibu 3.0 V6 LTZBy Antony Kallukaran, Aug 27, 2013Got my Malibu on 30.07.13 and in the 4 weeks its been with me I have already covered about 2500 kms. To start with I only had a choice of the 2.4 I4, however, they launched the 3.0 V6 June end and I decided that this had to be a more logical choice. There is nothing wrong with the 2.4. Its just that the 3.0 has about 90bhp and 5kgm torque more which makes much more sense here in Oman. I drove the 2.4 and found it a bit lazy in the acceleration and passing tests. To start with, I love the styling of the '13 Malibu. It looks very muscular and solid and once you add the fat 245 section 18" blacked out rims to it, it looks amazing. I took mine in white (arguably, it keeps the car cooler due to the comparably hot temperatures here). I love they way I can remote start it, I love the fact that its got blue ambient lighting, I like the soft touch materials used, i like the way the headlights level themselves on start, i love the power delivery and the sound of the V6 when I stomp on the loud pedal. I love a lot of things about her. However, so much as I do love her, there are a few niggles that do stand out! I do not like the lack of rear seat legroom(it is quite negligible!!, I dislike lack of front parking sensors (How expensive would it have been to add that piece of kit? This car has a long nose!), I dislike the noise the AC blower makes at full go, I do not like the the way the front wheels lose traction under hard acceleration! And most of all, I hate the mileage I get on a full tank!!!( I have filled her up 5 times and each time I averaged 6.3-6.5 kms per litre of petrol. I mean I know fuel is cheaper than water here, but this is ridiculous! I hardly get 420 kms on a full tank of gas! My dads V6 Mercedes S class gives better mileage!!) But at the end of the day, if I wanted to complain about the mileage, I should have bought the 2.4. But no, I got the 3.0 for the power! And that is where this baby redeems herself. She can accelerate from 0-100 in the 7-8 secs and cruise effortlessly at 140 kmph! I even touched 200 kmph with a lot of shove left in her!Overtaking is effortless and the sound, oh its glorious! Not a V8 growl but more like a proper V6 snarl! Quite addictive (perhaps the reason for the poor mileage)! Either way, she is hardly 4 weeks old. Lets get her through her 1st service. Will keep you all posted! Later! ...moreGreat design inside and outside! Great engine! Fantastic value for money! Lovely firm ride. Loaded with features! Huge boot!
Touch screen is flimsy. Lousy mileage (kmpl). Negligible rear sear legroom. Boot height is low. AC blower noise in full setting.Age Group 25-34
Outstanding all around car.By Ted, Jul 27, 2013Have been driving the 2013 Malibu for over 3 months and am very impressed with it. It is quite, stable, adequate power and easy on gas. Has done everything I ask of it with NO complaints. This is a great daily car for driving in a normal manner. Not a race car but a great family sedan that when asked can get up and go. It is amazing how quite it is a 70 mph (normal speed limits here in the south). Only complaint I have is the gas pedal position causes my foot to fall asleep after about an hour, but that may be my old body. I give Chevy a 9.5 out of 10 stars for this car. A great deal for the price, as it beats the foreign cars, hands down. ...moreGreat value, good preformance and super quite.
Position of gas pedal...causes my foot to fall asleep.Trim 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LS
