2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata 2dr Conv Hard Top Auto Grand Touring User Reviews
The real sports carBy Melvin L. (I am an Owner), Sep. 29, 2013The Miata is just a timeless model for sports car lovers. I have a 2013 MX-5 Club and it's by far the most fun car I could ever own. Power is plentiful for such a small car, while its balance in handl... more
2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata OverviewThe Miata's 2.0L 4-cylinder engine comes with one of three transmission choices; a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. With either of the manual transmissions the engine makes 167 horsepower, equipped with the automatic it makes 158. Don't be fooled by what seem like small numbers--the MX-5's diminutive size and weight means it's going to be plenty fast.
The MX-5 comes in Sport, Club and Grand Touring trim. On the base Sport trim, standard features include aluminum wheels, a CD/MP3 stereo that includes an auxiliary audio jack, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Club model includes 17" wheels, a suspension package for manual equipped cars and unique interior detailing. Grand Touring models get heated leather seats, a Bose audio system, automatic climate control and leather cockpit trim.
The Convenience Package, a $1,160 option available on the Sport, adds cruise control, fog lamps, remote keyless, steering-wheel audio controls and a trip computer.
The Premium Package, optional on the Grand Touring model, includes Bluetooth, electronically stability control, an advanced keyless entry system, SIRIUS satellite radio and HID xenon headlamps. A high performance suspension package adds a sport-tuned suspension, Bilstein shocks and a limited-slip differential.
While all Miatas are convertible, the Club and Grand Touring models offer an optional power-retractable hard top, ensuring year-round comfort.
In case the fun goes a bit awry, front and side-impact airbags are standard on all Miata models.
2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Model Changes
The Miata gets a nice refresh for the 2013 model year. The most noticeable change is a much more aggressive front fascia on the car, giving it a meaner and sportier look. The mid-level Touring trim has been discontinued and replaced with the Club trim. While the Touring trim looked to add luxury items to the base Miata, the Club trim concentrates more on performance and sporty looks, with a more aggressive suspension package, gunmetal wheels and black exterior accents.
2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Value
The Miata is one of the most fun cars on the road for under $30,000. Great handling, solid performance and an excellent standard equipment list all add up to an extraordinary amount of value been packed into the diminutive 2-seater. On top of that, it gets great mileage and is capable of 28 mpg on the freeway.
