2013 Scion tC 2dr HB Man Release Series 8.0 User Reviews
Affordable sports coupe, but lacks powerBy John Pline (I am an Owner), Apr. 10, 2013After shopping for a while for a sporty coupe that was under $20k I decided on the Scion tC. Now for the good: it has ample space and I actually prefer the styling of the newer tC than the old one. Fo... more
2013 Scion tC OverviewThe Scion tC is an affordable, stylish coupe offering up plenty of features and fun with a base price well under $20,000. It promises all of the looks of a more expensive sports car without the price tag.
The 2013 Scion tC comes in two trim levels from the factory, base trim and "Release Series 7.0" trim. Buyers can choose to equip it with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission.
Power for all tCs comes from a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with dual variable valve timing. The unit produces 180 hp and 173 lb-feet of torque, making plenty of power at the first stomp of the gas. However this power does not come at the cost of fuel economy as the Scion tC is still rated at 31 mpg on the highway.
The tC benefits from MacPherson front, while the rear utilizes an independent double- wishbone system. Steering is quick thanks to electronically assisted rack-and-pinion power steering.
Standard features include power mirrors, windows and locks, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, sport seats, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, keyless entry, panoramic power moonroof and an 8-speaker Pioneer audio system with USB port and iPod connectivity.
The Release Series 7.0 tC adds on a unique body kit, a honeycomb grille, an 18-inch alloy wheels and proximity keyless entry.
The options list is extensive and includes body graphics, rear spoiler, fog lights, door sill accents, Bluetooth, remote start, TRD performance accessories, Alpine premium audio, navigation and satellite radio.
Safety is paramount in the tC, with advanced front airbags, front side-mount airbags, front and rear side airbags, active headrests front and rear, a first aid kit and a tire pressure monitoring system.
2013 Scion tC Model Changes
The Scion tC hatchback carries into 2013 without any changes.
2013 Scion tC Value
The 2013 Scion tC is a car designed and marketed at younger buyers. It offers sporty performance while also rewarding drivers with decent fuel economy. The interior is second to none in terms of comfort and ergonomics, and the extensive array of factory accessories means the tC is basically a blank canvas that Scion encourages buyers to customize in to their liking.
2013 Scion tC Strengths
Endlessly customizable; affordability; interior space and amenities; sporty character
