2013 Hyundai Cars

Almost overnight Hyundai has been transformed from a second or even third-rate automaker to an industry leader thanks to recently launched versions of the Sonata, Tuscon and Elantra. More recently a revamped Accent has also joined the ranks of modern Hyundais. The Santa Fe mid-size crossover continues to be a popular model, despite being part of an older generation of products.

While hardly volume models, the Genesis Coupe and Sedan have done more than any other cars in the Hyundai lineup in terms of changing the perception of the brand. Hyundai shocked the automotive world by offering the 306-hp rear-drive coupe in 2010 with the sedan as a less-expensive BWM 5 Series alternative. More recently Hyundai has introduced its flagship Equus luxury sedan targeted at cars like the 7 Series.

Founded in 1967 Hyundai launched the Pony in 1975 with styling from renowned designer Giorgio Giugiaro and engines from Mitsubishi. The car made its way to North America in 1983, with huge success in Canada leading to the launch of the Excel in the U.S. three years later. With a major restructuring effort in 1998 Hyundai put in place a long term plan and acquired rival Kia that same year. Since then the automaker has pushed ahead with progressive designs, much improved build quality and materials, not to mention ride quality and class-leading fuel economy.
