GM Performance Package gives Solstice, Sky and HHR 290 HP and Up To 340 ft-lbs of Torque

General Motors is now offering a dealer-installed performance upgrade for the Pontiac Solstice GXP, Saturn Sky Redline and Chevy HHR SS, that will give the cars almost 300hp and more than 300 ft-lbs of torque.

All three vehicles share the turbocharged 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine that makes 260hp and 260 ft-lbs of torque. Thanks to the new GM Performance package for the cars, power will increase to 290hp and torque will hit 340 ft-lbs on manual transmission versions of the Solstice and Sky. Automatic version will get slightly less, at 325 ft-lbs and the HHR SS will get 315 ft-lbs.

The kit consists of an ECU reflash and a new manifold air-ressure sensor. And at just $650 its a serious bargain.

A similar package for the Cobalt SS is expected soon.

is the kit difficult to install.Does it come with simple directions? Does it take a mechanic to install?

Colum Wood says:

As the products are sold through the dealer I believe only they will do the install – so contact your local dealership about this. The package includes an ECU re-flash, which requires special tools. The install cost can’t be much (I doubt it’s included) but as the article says, for the price, the extra power you are getting is a huge bargain.

Diane Crossman says:

I have a 2008 saturn sky reline can we put this new kit on ourselves and where can we buy it.

Jerry Ringi says:

As an owner of a 2008 Saturn sky Redline I was not impressed with the power so I got the upgrade package installed. Cost from the dealer for the product and installation was $758.88. With the dealership installing the upgrade the car will continue to be covered under the Warrantee will remain in effect. The increase in power now has me inpressed. Considering I had a 2000 Ram Air Trans Am prior to my sky I’m impressed with the performance now. I do recommend the upgrade. I also had none of the problems other sky owners who had the upgrade, at least so far I haven’t.
