Porsche’s mid-cycle update for its flagship GT2 model appears to be more than just a slight upgrade. According to a forum member at TeamSpeed.com, the car was recently unveiled at a VIP event in Leipzig. It’s not just any GT2, however, but the GT2 RS – an ultra hard-core model weighing 198 lbs less than the current GT2. Power is also up considerably to 620-hp, enough for a 0-62 mph time of 3.2 seconds.

The source, who was presumably either at the event or knows someone who is, provided a single photo of the exotic sports car (above) and mentions that the GT2 RS has a rumored Nürburgring Lap Time of 7.22 – the same as the Dodge Viper ACR. (We’d be seriously impressed if anything without a ridiculous spoiler or massive front splitter could match the ACR).

Just 300 GT2 RS models will be built, with official details expected on May 14th.
