Report: 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG To Get V8

Mercedes-Benz‘s current SLK55 AMG has to make do with the least powerful of the AMG V8 engines, a 5.5L V8 making “only” 360 horsepower.

By any normal persons standards, this is more than adequate, but considering what the rest of AMG’s lineup gets (a 6.2L V8, a twin turbo 5.5L V8 and a 6.5L twin turbo V12), the SLK55 is undeniably the runt of the litter.

The new 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG is set to right things, when it debuts with a brand new naturally aspirated V8, making well over 100 horsepower more than the current lineup. While AMG has recently been moving to smaller displacement engines, the SLK AMG likely will get a V8 rather than the oft-rumored twin turbo V6.
