Maserati is on the offensive, with four new models in the pipeline the Italian automaker is looking to expand its dealer network to double what it is now to ensure there is support for the new cars.

To start the new vehicle introductions, the next generation quattroporte is due to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show next January. A small car which will slot in below the quattroporte, possibly called the Levante, will be finished and ready for market by mid-2013, and an SUV will also join the ranks of Maserati’s new car lineup. The last vehicle scheduled for re-design is the Gran-Turismo large coupe which should be available in 2015.

“We need a broader dealer body of about 500 dealers in place before our new models begin arriving on the market. Most of this expansion will happen by the end of this year,” said Maserati CEO Harald Wester. The sales goal for 2014 is an estimated 40,000 vehicles, and Wester’s hope for 2015 is to sell 55,000 to 60,000 cars.

Maserati is aiming high, and based on the Chrysler group turnaround, Marchionne’s leadership should carry the company to the mark it expects to hit.
