Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG Revealed With 550 Hp
Mercedes-Benz has the G63 AMG for those that want the classic G-wagon body style with aggressive power, and is adding to its lineup of sports-tuned SUVs with the GL63 AMG, unveiled today for the world to see.
The GL63 AMG will get its power from the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the G63, making 550 hp and 560 lb. ft. of torque. That will give the SUV a top speed of about 155 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-Speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC All-wheel drive system work together to get the power down to the wheels.
To try and save some fuel from this thirsty engine is a stop/start system, cylinder deactivation and an ECO driving mode which changes engine output levels and transmission ratio’s to optimize efficiency.
Air-bag suspension will come standard with the GL63, and offer two drive settings, comfort and sport, each one tailored for either high-speed driving or low-speed cruising.
For looks, the GL63 receives some nice exterior upgrades, such as high-gloss black louvers around the grille, large air intakes in the front for engine cooling, LED daytime running lights and tons of chrome trim. 21-Inch AMG alloy wheels sit underneath slightly more flared fenders, while ‘V8 Biturbo’ badges and a quad-chromed tailpipes completes the look, and offer the low growl AMG’s are known for.
The list of technology is endless on this high-end SUV, and includes features like active park assist, attention assist, COMAND infotainment system, collison prevention assist, massaging front seats, 360° camera and a Panorama sliding roof which covers all three rows of seating.
With no real rival, the GL63 AMG can seat seven, and offer an exhilarating driving experience all at the same time.

Thank you Mercedes! I was so angry at Mercedes for discontinuing the R63 AMG in 2007 that I emailed them every day for the past 5 years.I stopped earlier this month, thinking that I just couldn't get through to the big German corporation, but like a dream come true, find that the GL 63 is a real car! I can't wait for this thing to come to production! I'm going to have 5 children just to celebrate!
