2014 Volvo XC40 Compact Crossover Caught Testing – Spy Photos
With the recent debut of its V40 model and word that it’s likely to make its way to America, the next new product to join the Volvo lineup will be the XC40.
As it obvious from our latest spy photos, the XC40 will mesh styling cues from the new V40 and the brand’s new design philosophy we first saw on the XC60. With the success of the latter on our shores, there’s little doubt the XC40 would be an ideal candidate for North America as well.
In terms of engines, we look to the current offerings in the V40, which include a choice of two 1.6-liters (gas and diesel) making 150 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque and 115 hp and 210 lb-ft respectively. Plus, there’s the optional T5 motor with 177 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque in diesel trim or 254 hp and 295 lb-ft for the gas version.
Look for the production XC40 to debut at this Fall’s Paris Motor Show.
