Long rumored and anticipated, the new Mazda6 diesel will make its debut some time around October 2013.

News of the 2014 Mazda6 comes via an anonymous tipster, who has revealed that the all-new car has been shown to dealerships in the Chicago area with details.

In addition to the launch date for the Skyactiv-D, the 2014 Mazda6 will come with a larger 2.5-liter version of the brand’s Skyactiv-G engine found in the 2012 Mazda3 and CX-5. The gasoline-powered Mazda6 will be available starting in March of next year. That 2.5-liter unit will also be offered as an option in the CX-5.

In addition, the very first details on the 2014 CX-9 have been revealed. The 3.7-liter V6 engine will carry over, while the large crossover will ride on a new Skyactiv chassis that will weight as much as 250 lbs less than the current model and also sport the brand’s new design language.

No photos of the 2014 Mazda6 have been released, though based on teasers and spy photos it should closely resemble our artists rendering above.
