Audi CEO Says Brand Will Be No.1 Luxury Automaker by 2020
When asked about the future of Audi, the brands CEO sighted plans to push the company to the number one spot by 2020.
“By 2020 at the latest. It is not about overtaking BMW tomorrow or the day after, but to seize and secure the top position,” said CEO Rupert Stadler. Previously the CEO had stated a plan to become number one by 2015, but is now pushing the year out to 2020.
Stadler also commented that the sales for the first half of 2012 are “very good numbers,” and will be released on July 31st. Audi is on track to sell 1.4 million vehicles this year, which will mark a new company record.
The climb to the top will not be without hurdles though. European car sales are dropping thanks to the financial problems of the EU, and sales in China are also starting to taper off.
Stadler knows there will be issues, as he commented “but we, too, feel that the road is getting bumpier.”

Not if they keep insisting on being slightly worse than BMW and MBZ... Audi is NOT that good of a car company.
