Kia Canada will be competing in its third consecutive Targa Newfoundland event, but this year it’ll be campaigning a Forte Koup with digital signatures, promoting safe and sober driving.

The Korean automaker’s Canadian division has teamed up with MADD Canada to create an ‘I Pledge’ Forte Koup, where users can visit Kia Canada’s Facebook fan page to pledge to drive sober and sign the vehicle. All pledges done before August 10th, 2012 will have their names digitally printed onto the vehicle and users will be able to easily locate their names online or at one of the car’s public appearances.

Jacques Deshaies and Marc Bouchard will be manning the vehicle at the Targa Newfoundland event, and it will be Deshaies second year in a row driving the Kia Forte Koup. Kia Canada also has plans to campaign the Forte Koup at various rally and auto show events throughout the year, promoting safe and sober driving.

“Kia Canada is excited to be entering into its third consecutive Targa Newfoundland, the grueling event is a testament to Kia’s motorsports legacy that continues to blossom and the underlying reliability of our vehicles,” said Maria Soklis, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kia Canada Inc. “Additionally, we have elevated the ‘I Pledge’ program to new ground and hope to engage Canadians with the Targa Koup ‘Sign the Car’ Facebook app to actively support MADD Canada in educating motorists on the importance of driving sober.”
