BMW I8 Spyder to Bow at LA Auto Show

Originally rumored for a NY Auto Show debut earlier this year, the BMW i8 Spyder Concept is now scheduled to make its first appearance at the LA Auto Show this Fall.
According to a tweet from the Los Angeles show, the new drop-top plug-in hybrid BMW supercar will first break cover, appropriately, in the sunny state.
With a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds and a fuel economy rating expected to be in the 70 mpg range, the i8 is a revolutionary new sports car from BMW. Powering the car is a 170-hp electric motor driving the front wheels and a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder at the rear wheels making 223-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. BMW also clams the i8 will have a fully electric range of 20 miles.
