Watch Rhys Millen Set a New Pikes Peak Record

Last weekend, Rhys Millen set the record as the fastest driver to ascend Pike’s Peak in history. His time was 9:46.

But some would say that it isn’t as impressive as it should be for one reason: this was also the first year where the entire course was paved. Still, considering the track is 13 miles long and involves driving more than 6,700 feet to the mountain’s 14,000 foot peak it’s no small feat.

It’s also important to remember that the course involves lots of blind turns without guard rails. If you’re still not impressed, watch the footage from inside the car.
