The Audi Quattro concept that was shown off two years ago at the Paris Motor Show will never see the light of production, as the German automaker has decided to axe the vehicle.

Instead, Audi is now considering a Quattro-inspired coupe in the form of a crossover, similar to what Land Rover offers with its Range Rover Evoque. According to the automaker, the market for performance cars as of late is a little weak, while the crossover and SUV segment has become more popular. As a result, Audi is looking to shift its Quattro model to the crossover segment.

It is believed that this Q-coupe model will be based on the Audi Crosslane Concept that debuted last week at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
