Chevrolet just unveiled its newest entrant for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the 2013 Chevy SS.

The new NASCAR previews what we will see from Chevy early in 2013, when the brand reveals the all-new SS performance sedan. The car will run with a small-block V8 engine and send all of its power to the rear-wheels, using the platform that underpins the Chevrolet Camaro and Holden’s upcoming VF Commodore. It will be the first RWD Chevy sedan to be sold in the US in 17 years.

“With the SS, Chevrolet is delivering a true rear-wheel-drive NASCAR race car that is very closely linked to the performance sedan that will be available for sale…” said GM North America President Mark Reuss.
