GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado Recalled for Hood Issue

A recall for model year 2010 through 2012 Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons has been issued today, over problems stemming from the lack of a secondary hood latch.
If the primary hood latch is not secured, the hood can unexpectedly open while the vehicle is driving because there is no secondary hood latch to keep it closed. The recall affects 118,800 units in the U.S.
General Motors will contact owners with a letter, and ask them to inspect their vehicles for a secondary hood latch. If it is absent, dealers will replace the hood, free of charge. For more info contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463. The recall is expected to begin on January 17, 2013.
