Lexus unceremoniously dismissed its HS 250h hybrid from the U.S. market early last year, but the car is still for sale in Japan.

Now it looks like the joke is on U.S. car buyers because after two and a half years of upturned noses, Lexus revised the car with its new spindle grille. It also got LED tail lights, revised headlights and new alloy wheels. Japanese customers will also be treated to a cabin with higher-quality materials along with an updated center console.

The powertrain stays the same with a 147-hp 2.4-liter gasoline engine and a 40-hp electric motor which in total offer 187 hp.

Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t be worse considering how recently Lexus pulled the plug on selling the HS in the U.S. There’s still the CT 200h, but it’s hard not to look at the HS as a missed opportunity now that it looks so good.
