Nissan is really building the Leaf NISMO it brought to the recent Tokyo Auto Salon.
Electric cars and performance go hand in hand – just ask any of the drivers who piloted electric cars during the 2013 Pikes Peak Hillclimb. Despite that, the term “electric car” probably doesn’t get your blood pumping like the idea of a roaring V8 and Nissan isn’t out to change that.

NISMO is the brand’s performance arm, but the car won’t get any real performance upgrades. Instead, it will get a more aerodynamic body kit, special wheels and interior tweaks.
Don’t expect to see the car for sale in North America, though. It’s planned to be a low-volume car in Japan, where the brand will gauge reaction before possibly selling a limited run in Europe.
