Toyota announced two separate voluntary recalls on Wednesday, the first one for about 270,000 Lexus IS vehicles, while the second recall is for 752,000 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles.

Model year 2003 and 2004 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles are affected by faulty airbags and seat belt pretensioners that can inadvertently deploy. These Corollas were installed with “application-specific integrated circuits that are susceptible to internal shorting,” which is causing the problem.

The second recall affects model year 2006 through early 2012 Lexus IS vehicles, and it involves windshield wipers which may become inoperative. If there is a buildup of snow, or an obstruction of any kind stopping the wipers, one or both of them can stop working.
