Lower Cost Corvette 'Coupe' Coming With Smaller V8
Chevrolet made a big deal about the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 powering its new 2014 Corvette Stingray, but there will also be a smaller V8 option in 2015 if a new report is correct.
For 2015, there will also be a lower-cost version called the Corvette Coupe that will source power from an all-aluminum 5.3-liter V8 similar to the powerplant found in GM’s new trucks according to Motor Trend. Expect output to ring in with fewer than 400 hp.
There will also be changes to the front fascia, fender and rear diffuser.

The outgoing 2013 Corvette base model costs $50,595 and makes 430 hp from its 6.2-liter V8, so it seems likely that the Corvette Coupe will cost less than the current base model, bringing the Corvette’s entry price below $50,000.
Of course, the name implies that the removable carbon fiber roof won’t be there. The carbon fiber hood also seems unlikely if the car’s price is going to dup much.

If Chevy truly is trying to attract a younger buyer for the Vette, a lower-priced model will be essential.
