Ford owners whose cars are equipped with the brand’s Sync AppLink system will now be able to access Spotify, an online music streaming service, through their cars.

This is Spotify’s first collaboration with an automaker. Pandora, another internet radio service is already embedded in 75 vehicle models including cars from GM, Ford, BMW and Chrysler.

Ford is currently pushing to become the leader for in-car infotainment and app availability. Last month during the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, the maker announced that it would offer the system underpinning its AppLink software to any automaker free of charge.

Today, the brand also announced that it gave the same software to the GENIVI Alliance in an effort to promote more open-source app development.
