Chevrolet will be including scheduled maintenance in the price of its aging Silverado 1500 pickup for sales over the next two months.
The promotion matches one that was kicked off on the GMC Sierra last month, hoping to move remaining units ahead of the new Silverado and Sierra’s release in the late spring. According to General Motors, the promotion was a success for the Sierra last month, and the American automaker has decided to also extend it through April.
The maintenance promotion will include all oil changes, oil filter replacements, tire rotations, and vehicle inspections for two years or 24,000 miles. It will be standard on any 2013 Silverado 1500 that’s sold or leased during March and April. Best of all, it’ll be transferable to another owner.
Silverado sales were up 29 percent last month compared to a year earlier, with 41,643 units sold. The Sierra’s sales rose 25 percent to 14,133.
“It was really the great results at GMC with the Sierra that prompted us to adopt the strategy,” Chevrolet sales chief Don Johnson told analysts and reporters today during a conference call to discuss GM’s February sales results. “We had great feedback from both customers and dealers.”
